I looked at Xavion, who shifted his position, backing toward a large rock to prevent being surrounded. Padrone and Whisper worked together and tried to flank him, but he engaged them in a swift, deadly dance of steel. Parrying a strike from the left, he countered with a kick that sent one rogue sprawling, then swung his sword in a wide arc, narrowly deflected by the other rogue's club. Just as the fight seemed stalemate, the rogue leader charged, swinging his heavy club with a roar.

"Don't worry about your mate, he'll be taken care of shortly." The rogue said, and pulled my hand, throwing me off the ground.

He's making me weaker, he's trying to lose my strength.

My bitten shoulder ached even more as I landed on that side.

I have to use this cane. This cane is my only miracle.

But how?

"What are you going to do with me?"

"We're here to get you, Xianne. The Naiad was useless, and so we want you." He said and put his foot on my wounds, I had no energy to scream, and I let him pin me.

"S-so you took the Naiad."

"Of course, to scare you. We know that you'll be moving, once a threat is posed."

Let's keep him talking, then.

I grip the cane that was hidden on the fallen leaves. He was lowering his guard down because he knew I didn't have anything on me.

"I-it was y-your plan all along."

"You're a smart girl, aren't you." He elongated his teeth and went to bite my left arm when I used it to stick the cane in his eyes.

I may not be strong, but thanks to my harming potion, he'll be blind in a matter of seconds.

"WHAT DID YOU DO!" He yelped, and started to claw me, I quickly scrambled to hide behind a rock. He couldn't see me anymore, his dark eyes became light, and his irises faded.

He's going to rely on his scent, I need to cover my blood!

A loud ululation captured my attention as I continued to hide from the blind rogue.

Padrone was swinging his muscular arms, and Xavion met the blow head-on, the impact vibrating up his arms. Using the force of the leader's attack, he twisted his sword, disarming the rogue leader with a sharp. The leader stumbled back, weaponless and exposed. Seeing their leader disarmed, Whisper hesitated, uncertainty flickering in their eyes. Seizing the moment, Xavion pressed his advantage, driving his sword through the rogue leader's chest with a swift, precise thrust.

Whisper tried to escape, his tail tucked on his buttocks but Xavion caught up with him. In one powerful swing of his sword, he had sliced its neck. Its head popped off, tumbling down, while the body continued to run, and after a few seconds, it landed with a loud thud.

The rogue near me, probably felt the disconnection as he howled in pain, and before he could finish his howl, Xavion pierced his sword in between its heart.

His glowing eyes were razor-edged, and his breathing was rough, the rogue kept standing and pulled his sword out by kicking its frame. Its knees bent, but before it fell to the ground, he sliced its head off its neck. The blood sprawled like a fountain.

One thing rang inside my mind if he could kill these rogues without remorse, look like a rogue killing machine, hungry for their blood. Then he'd do the same to me, now that the rogues have mentioned I'll be like them, soon.

"Xianne, are you alright?"

I couldn't answer him, it was like my body was numb, not from their inflicted wound, but from what I saw. That face, his face that I'll never forget.

"H-he was already dead. W-why did you have to slice his neck?" I breathe out, my eyes still on the remains. Blood kept rushing out. Their eyes and mouths open, a complete terror that will never leave.

"So that they won't be revived. The Lycan knew of magic, and I made sure, that he can't use them again."

He took the bags and he took the cane from me. The sword was full of blood, and only he knew how much blood was drawn because of that sword.
