"It looked like half wolf and half man."

I huffed, the bunny's words still creeping inside me. I had to reach Akolyn's lair to get these questions out of my head.

Opening the map, I saw I was just a few hundred miles away from the meadow. Grunting in frustration, I wondered if I could go to The Rhodes instead.

Was it east or west?

Searching for it on the map, there was no location. The only things it displayed were the Kingdom, the lake, the crash site, Bubble's cottage, the forest, the valley, the meadow, and Akolyn's lair.

"What's this?"

I thought this was enchanted.

Tch. If only this map could show the real location of the Lycan. It would be bliss if the map knew where he was.

Putting the map back in my pocket, I continued to run, hoping to find the river as soon as I could. My throat felt dry, and I needed to hydrate.

Kicking a boulder, I watched it shoot up into the sky, hoping my despair would stick to it as it disappeared on the other side of the terrain.

As soon as I heard the sound of flowing water, I ran even faster to quench my thirst. The water sparkled under the leaves of trees, and the sun rays illuminated the rocks and small fish swimming in it.

The fish swam to the other side of the river as I drank. After drinking enough, I slumped against a nearby tree, pulling up my clothes to search for the uncomfortable pinching in my skin.

There was my unhealed wound. I had forgotten all about it when I kicked that boulder. I cleaned and changed the dressing when I took a bath at the cottage.

Looking for a soft cloth inside my duffel bag, I submerged it in the water to clean my wound and changed the dressing again. The plaster wouldn't stick anymore as blood had soaked through it.

My head snapped to the west side of the river as I heard sticks and leaves crunch underfoot. Sniffing the air, I caught the scent of humans.

"Aphòdeuma!" I stifled my breath, hiding behind the tree trunk.

Clutching my legs to my chest, I hated the feeling of having no choice but to hide, or else they would see me.

They reached the river, walking in groups. Two men walked further from the others, talking in whispers.

"I doubt we can hunt wolves in this area."

"Aslem caught three wolves last week. He said they were so wild they had to shoot them on sight."

I smirked. That's because those wolves were rogues.

"We need to find live wolves. We can't keep shooting them down. How can we study them if they're dead?"

But why do they have to study us?

"A lead says we should travel further north. We'll find more wolves there."

North? Canidae Kingdom!

"Alright, the night is still far. Let's move our asses and head north."

"Everyone, follow the river! We'll camp there through the night!"

They picked up their packs and moved north.

I sighed. I hoped Father and Alaric could disguise the whole kingdom. We may have had problems like this before, but there were far too many now, and they were more heavily armed.
