If Only Part 3

“Good Morning” she replied.
“Would you like some breakfast, Teenie?” her sister asked her, surprisingly chirpier than she’s been
this past week.
“Just some toast will be fine, thanks Queen.”
Queenie got up and passed her a plate of already buttered toast slices.
“Er...Queen, can you, maybe..?” Tina was trying to ask her to help her find something nicer to wear
to say goodbye to Newt.
“Oh, oh sure, Teen. Of course I will” her sister replied, after reading her thoughts.
“We will be right back, Newt.” Queenie told him. He nodded, but had a confused look on his face as
they turned and went into their room.
“Teen, honestly, he will love you in that”
“You sure? I don’t want it to look like I’m trying too much to make myself look nice, but I just wanna
look nice enough for him to maybe....remember me after he leaves”
“Oh Tina! You really like him, don’t ya?”
“Shoosh. I don’t want him to know, yet. In case there maybe someone else. Or until I definitely know
how I feel about him.”
“Tina, you’re trying to look nice for a man you have known for a week, and hoping he remembers
you after he leaves. It’s clear your feelings for him are more than just friendship.”
“I’d rather wait until I know him better and when I know he feels the same way about me.”
Tina looks at herself in the mirror in her wardrobe. She’s wearing her usual work blouse, with a long
black skirt and low heeled buttoned up boots. Her hair is kept straight.
“You really think this would do?”
“It’s perfect for you, Tina”
“Ok. I better get going. Newt’s boat is leaving in half an hour”
“Good luck”
Tina walks out of her room, meeting with Newt, who is already standing by the door, coat and boots
on, case in hand and a scarf that Tina has not seen before wrapped once around his neck.
“Ready to go, I see” Tina says, gesturing towards him.
Newt nods. Tina puts on her black coat and walks quietly out with him.
‘Well this is it’ Tina thought as they walk to the harbour.
‘We’re about to say goodbye. Maybe we could see each other again someday. Hopefully....’
