INK ChapterOne --Icy

Finally, all the packs had gathered, the meeting could now start. We were having the meeting to discuss what laws we would need or if any needed amending.

The three Alphas sat at the center of the forest clearing, deciding among themselves who would be first to speak. It didn't take long for them to choose, the soon separated and a single fox steped forward, his pelt was the color of a sunset and his golden-brown eyes reflected the moon with pride. He spoke with a smooth tone that rang clearly throughout the clearing. "I am Sun pack alpha of southern pack. Today's meeting is to discuss the laws that we may need, mainly the laws I speak of are to help with our new problems... the Inks..." when he said that most of the hair on the back of my neck stood on end, I could tell he too hated the demon as badly as the lower rank pack members did.

"Recently the numbers of," he searched for the word "Changed foxes have increased dramatically." When he stopped a silvery she fox sitting in front twitched her tail, "yes Ivy..." sun asked in a annoyed tone, angry that she had been caught the she fox replied "I too agree that we need the new laws, but, why do we have to bring the lowest ranking pack members as well?!" she glanced at me as she said it. "Because Ivy, when we need new laws we need to know what all ranks think of them or they may not follow them." He said it as though he'd said it thousands of times. After he said that Ivy almost retorted back at him but realizing she had been beat she held her mouth shut, though she still had a snarl masking her lime-green muzzle. Ivy was the only one who would ever question her alpha in front of the other packs.

The southern alpha then turned his attention from Ivy to the rest of the alphas "I recommend that we come up with a law that considers guarding us from the Inks when we are in large groups."

The first leader to speak up was Gaize, a small grayish purple she fox with a light gray-blue stripe going down her back, she is alpha of the eastern pack "How would we do this? The Inks over power us, both in numbers and in power, If we were to try and stop them from attacking we would only be making more inks!" "That is not what I meant by my idea, the laws I speak of are merely for protection, things like a single pack member placed at a guarding point at our camps so when we see an Ink coming they can safely call an alarm from their post so the rest of us can get away and they will be out of the Inks grasp."

After hearing this Gaize nodded and looked to the next alpha, Star, a she fox with a navy blue pelt speckled with tiny white spots, the alpha of the northern pack. "I do believe that I cannot argue with this." "Thank you." Sun replied.

He this turned back to the crowd of other pack members, he chose four of them to state their reasons of why or why not to. I was amazed that he called on me after all I was only his 'mistake' and he did not even consider me his child nor even his reative.

he also chose Flair, Pika, and of coarse Ivy.

He first nodded toward Flair, my mate, giveing him the signal to speak first. "I say that we do not need the new laws, we do not have the spair pack members to do so, nor do we have time! If we waist our lowers on gaurding pasitions, who will hunt or gather water?" he said it proudly and convinceingly, though I still would not side with him on his theory.

Sun then turned to Pika, she was young, obviously only newly named old enough to come.

"I beleive we DO need these laws, they would do nothing but help! If the gaurding lower is well out of the inks way yet still able to call warning then we would have plenty of time to get away. What would be to happen if an Ink were to attack now? We would have no warning and most of us would to be 'changed'. That is all I need say, it is what I beleive is right." when she finished I seemed as if her yellow pelt gleamed in the moonlight and her black tail swishes with pride for her pack, though the red spots benith her eyes were growing a pinker shade for she was blushing, why she was, I don't know.

young and yet wise, I agreed with every word that she had spoken, she would deffinatly make grand leader. Yet still she was just a lower pack member like me, and this might only be her first and last meeting.

My turn was next, though Sun obviously did not enjoy that thought. I could tell from the look in his eyes when he glanced at me.

"I-" I wasn't able to get anything else out before Ivy inturpted me by saying,

"I think that higher ranking pack members speak first!" she said it in a high pich snarl, "after all, you shouldn't even be alowed to be at this meeting let alone giving what you opinion is to Sun. He is by FAR a much higher rank then YOU will ever be! And I'm positive that he DOES NOT want to hear it!"

that was it! I'd had enough, "IVY!! This is not the about your STUPID problems withbeing related to me! In fact if there were no lower pack members you would not survive! OUR MOTHER WAS LOWER PACK MEMBER! and if you can't keep your mouth shut then we will never get the laws our packs may need!"

Now that I'd had the atention of the group I might as well continue talking, though it now would be input what I thought of the law.

"And I, think we need this law! Like Pika said, all it could do is help us! It would stop the cause of new and more inks, and save us from loseing pack members! How else will we get away from them?!"

After I said it I pushed my way through the croud untill I was in the safety of the undergrowth, were I knew no one would see me. Though I could still see the meeting space, I knew that my eyes were red right now, they nevr stayed the same color for long after I became angry that's why i've trained my self to stay calm. I didn't want anyone to see me like this, it would just cause more of my pack to make fun of me... The only one who knew, and hopefuly would ever know, is Flair I didn't tell him it's just that when we first met he saw them change just a moment before he died, they turned yellow the color of fear.

I couldn't quiet hear what Sun said after I left, I'd been to busy trying to calm down, it was a rare ocation that I became this angry. As I sat there not moveing a muscle, in the darkness, watching the meeting, I herd something behind me, a slight driping sound. There wasn't a river anywere near by nor was there any running water at all.

The only other posibility was, that there was an Ink right behinde me... I couldn't worn the packs or the ink would catch me and most likely many others as well. But if I didn't worn them the ink would get them anyway.

I couldn't run either, inks are far to fast. All I could do was sit and hope it didn't see or scent me.

Luckly it didn't, but it was prepareing to lanch it's self into the meeting clearing and attack. I knew I was the only one who knew the ink was here and the only possible one who would dare risk their own life to save others, so that's what I will do, I will give up my life and save all thoughs who hate me.

Finaly, it lanched it's self into the clearing, I followed. The second we both landed I sank my teeth into one of it's hind legs, pinning it down.

The alphas who were sit next to us fled emediatly, everyone else following. As all the packs left I still stood there my mouth clamped on the Inks leg, but just as I was ready to let go and fight I saw a single fox still standing in the clearing.

"Why arnt you leaveing?!" I tried to howl through my closed mouth "Because!" she growled "I refuse to be outdone by an acsitdentaly born, lower pack, fox!" I tried not to flinch at her words, "What?!" I gasped, my voice geting high pich from the ink that had seeped into my throught. "You Heard me! I would rather die then be outdone by you!" I could feel the urge to let go of the ink as it continueously kicked me in the stoach, it wouldn't be much longer till I freinted or it jerked free.

"Just go Ivy! After this I'll just be another ink and you will have to save the pack from me! So go now, andsave yourself!" out of the corner of my eye I also saw Flair crouching in the undergrowth with my son Stripes, both his and flairs eyes were filled with fear, "You too guys..." I wispered knowing that at least Flair would hear me.

Then, only after seeing Ivy, Flair, and Stripes leave did I my eyes close for the last time, and then I let the calm yet burning darkness take me over...
