Chapter 5

Pacing in anticipation in his large office,Jake checked his self at the mirror for the upteenth time.He was nervous.

Ever since finding out Annabella was back in town,he had been happy and been looking for the opportunity to see her.So after being informed by Sir Eric of his Mistress wish to have a meeting with him,he knew that the right opportunity had come to meet with his ex-girlfriend:the woman whose heart he broke.

He wondered if She still hate him for what he had done,if she still loves him,if she had moved on and loved someone else now.

Frowning at the last thought,he knew he didn't want her to move on and love another man because he hasn't because he couldn't move on period.Still pacing with hundreds of thoughts in his mind,it was cut short with the buzzing sound of  the telephone on his desk."his secretary, which means Annabella is around",he thought as he rushed, picking it up,"hello Sheila... good.. direct her to my office",he said nodding his head.

Checking himself one last time in the large mirror in the adjoining bathroom,he went to his desk and sat down calmly.

Few seconds after,his office door was opened and his pretty secretary ushered Annabella in, leaving them alone as she closed the door behind her.

Walking towards him with her head held high and a straight back, Annabella held her hand out to him,"Good day Mr Jake Wilson"

But instead of receiving the out stretched hand,he started at her like a child seeing an aeroplane for the first time.

She was beautiful.His Annabella had grown up from being a pretty teenager to a beautiful woman.Her beautiful blonde hair had being styled to a tight bun,with the tight faded jeans enlightening her small hips and straight legs matched the green top and brown jacket she wore.The boots giving her an additional height from her petite stature.His Annabella had become a beautiful ranchwoman.

Annabella wasn't surprised of the fact that he checked her out, it's been five long years and she knew she had grown and changed but he had changed also.

With his six and half feet,he was a tall man who was lean and muscular.The white shirt which was unbuttoned at the neck gave her a tantalizing view of his chest.The calluses in his hand and his tan skin spoke of a man who was used to hardwork.His handsome face was blessed with a strong cheek bone,a stubborn jaw which had little stubble of beards,his full lips promising pleasure to a woman and a killer smile that would make a woman's heart  beat faster.But the most intriguing part of his features were his  beautiful dark eyes which Annabella had always found to be both unsettling and intimidating at once.No man deserves to be handsome as sin,she thought.

Her hand still stretched,she cleared her throat"Mr Jake"

"Oh am sorry"he said looking a little flustered as he received her hand."Take a seat please".

Nodding her head, she sat on the soft chair facing him."Mr Jake,my foreman sir Eric spoke highly of your company..."

"Anna",he said cutting her short."how are you doing"

Feeling goosebumps on her skin,she knew she had missed the way he called her name."not too good, still hurting", but instead,she replied,"am doing good Mr Jake, how about you?"

"Not too good, still angry with myself",he thought."Am also good".He replied looking at her"Anna please am sorry...I know I..."

Cutting him short too,her face paling,she replied with a hiss"Stop it right now Jake!, like I said earlier,am good, I've moved on and am sure you also  have moved on.We're both okay,so now since we would be working as business partners,I think we have to leave our ugly past behind us, don't you think so?"

"Yeah", Jake replied nodding his head.She was still hurting,he could see it despite her attempt at hiding it,he could see she was still angry with him.Now he had his first answer.

"Thanks, Annabella replied surprised.Jake wasn't one to give up easily.

"Sure,so back to
business,"partner"

But he knew he wouldn't let them  be just business partners alone,he wanted a lot more and he always get what he wants.But first,he knew he needed her forgiveness to heal the deep ache in his heart.
