The bug part II

Keira's pov

"Ombrego blood, she needs Ombrego blood!" Justyce said, setting the book down, examining it one more time before closing it.

"Because you all were humans prior to coming here, the blood hasn't filled your body so the only sure place to find blood is in your ears and tails. Keep in mind, draining the blood from your limbs will cause them to shrivel up and possibly fall off. How much blood is needed?" Uillinn asked Justyce.

"One quart, a whole quart!" Justyce said, not believing her own words.

"We can see how much blood one of you can generate, more blood comes from the dogs limbs though. Which on of you is willing to donate? We can't hesitate we have a carriage on the way right now!" Uillinn said, grabbing a knife and a cup.

Before I could even offer my blood, Justyce had walked over there and sat next to Uillinn. I watched in horror as Uillinn took the knife and make three deep incisions in her ear. Justyce winced in pain as the blood drained from her tan dog ears. I looked at iris, who looked like she was going to be sick.

"Iris, keira, could you go grab some band aids and another cup?"

Iris nodded, we stood up and walked away into the kitchen. We searched the cupboards for a sizable cup. We found one. I looked at iris and she seemed very distressed.

"Everything okay?" I ask, pitting a hand on her shoulder.

"It's just. We have only been here for a few days, barley able to control our powers and Uillinn is already sending us to the king. The king expects us to be experts but we aren't. I'm scared keira, what's going to happen when the king finds out? What's going to happen to the the others? What's going to happen to our family's and peers?" Iris ranted as we searched the bathroom for bandaids.

"I don't know what's going to happen, but I know we are safe together! Right?" I say, stuffing my arms with bandaids and cloths.

We walk back to the library. Justyces head is in her hands as Uillinn struggles to get the last bit of blood from justices tail. Her ears look like fall leaves, frail and thin, crumbling apart.

"Bandages!" Uillinn demands, almost like an earth surgeon.
She takes the cloth and cleans up Justyces ears and tail and then wrapped what was left of them in bandaids. Justyce wined in pain.

"Did we get enough blood?" Justyce said, weakly sitting up.

"I'm afraid not, but if we don't get enough she could get worse. She could die. Keira, are you willing to take the chance?" Uillinn asked.

"Yes, I will. If it means she will be at peace then I'll do it." I say. What am I doing?!

I sat down next to her, handing her the other cup we had grabbed prior. She cleaned her knife and held it up to my ear. She made three deep cuts in my ear. I immediately tensed up in pain. The blood started to drain from my ears. I felt it shrivel up quickly. I tried to focus on anything other then the fact that my ear was beginning to fall off. I looked at Adelyns sleeping face. She had no idea what was going on, she was at peace. Oh how I longed to feel that peaceful. Uillinn moves into my other ear. The process was painfully slow but actually pretty quick. My left ear crumpled apart and began falling on the ground.

"Um Uillinn! My ear is on the floor!" I say, looking down at the furry mess.

"That's okay, you will be okay," she said moving onto my tail.

After she finished draining me she wrapped me in bandaids. We still didn't have enough blood. Iris looked worried but understood. She conducted the same cycle with iris and soon we had enough blood. Uillinn poured the blood onto and into the wounds.

Adelyn woke up soon after. Her face was pale.

"Don't worry, your okay. You will vomit any second now, but down worry, you need to vomit the poison out," Uillinn said handing her a bucket. Like clockwork Adelyn produced a bile that was red and purple, just like the bugs.

After Adelyn had finished she looked around the room, observing each of us.

"I'm so sorry Uillinn, this is all my fault, I shouldn't had been such a baby about it I just, I-I," Adelyn said stumbling over her words.

"Your fine, it wasn't your fault! Look, now your okay!" Iris said.

"Your ears, all of your ears! where are your ears!" Adelyn said pointing to each of our ears.

"We gave them for you, the cure needed ombrego blood. You could have died so we sacrificed our ombrego parts for you. Its not your fault, we did this for you. We didn't want to loose you!" I said, setting my hand on Adelyns.

Just then a carriage pulled up outside.

"Time to go!" Uillinn said, acting like the whole situation didn't even happen.
