After that shocking turn of events, the group moved on. Well, except for Ralph. He was so horrified that he went home. Of course, he never found his way back and eventually perished.
"Our numbers have been reduced to only six!" Alexandra screamed at Paul.
"Relax, six is still fine," Paul answered. "Well, it's more like five with you," he added under his breath.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing."
They continued walking. After a moment, the three archaeologists of the group stopped.
"There seems to be something in the ground here!" Thomas said. "Help us dig it out!"
The team rushed to help. They took out their tools and started digging. Eventually, Jim found something. A human skeleton. To everyone's horror, the skeleton moved and grabbed his arm. He was dragged down into the sand, just like Michael. Felix was so disgusted, that he stopped digging. Then, Shane found some pieces of an artifact. Some sort of old vase or jar. Everyone gathered around him except Alexandra. She had noticed something else. A staff with carvings on it. She quickly dug it out of the sand. She didn't intend on giving it to the others. Those idiots would only lose it, break it or do some other horrible thing to it. When the group finally stopped looking st Shane's discovery, they saw the staff.
"I think that's an ancient water staff!" Thomas said. "You should give to me. Leave it to the professionals, you know?"
"It's a staff. I think I'm competent enough to hold it," she retorted.
"Fine. Keep it. But don't break it or lose it."
"Like I said, I know how to hold a staff. Personally, I think that I'm the most qualified person to have this."
"Yeah, right."
"Well, I'm taking it anyway. Regardless of your remark."
Thomas didn't continue arguing. He let Alexandra have the water staff. And good thing he did. It would prove useful to Alexandra in the future.
