taeyong hadn't returned home all week. ten was entirely surprised, things go wrong when he gets a job very often. he would usually come back late one night covered in the stench of blood. ten only grew worried when taeyong didn't message him.

ten decided he would go look around for him on his way to his parents' house.

"oh my fucking god, y'all never stop do you?" ten said as he spat a glob of mucus and blood against the sidewalk, "i got a thing to get to, really,"

"whoa, whoa, whoa. who said you could leave, poser?" a buff wolf said as he shoved back against ten's chest. the coyote snarled at the air in front of the wolf, making his smirked and blow a kiss.

"i'd love to play, but i really miss your mom's warm bed,"

"fucking bitch," the wolf barked as he grabbed at ten's hair. the coyote whimpered, gritting his teeth. the wolf leaned forward and bit down against the side out the coyote's neck, forcing him to let out a shrill cry.

there was so much pain running through his body, the warmth against his neck was an unpleasant one. ten could feel the tongue of the wolf run across his neck as he bit down.

blood. hot blood ran down ten's shoulder. the metallic smell was so strong, it was all he could smell.

the wolf released and ten fell to his knees, his hands flying over the bite wound. three wolves stared down at the coyote, all with disgusted expressions. the buff wolf that bitten ten spat on the coyote before turning and leaving.

"yeah, better run, pussies!" ten shouted as the other two began to follow the first. one of the stopped and turned around. he grabbed at ten's shirt and lifted him up slightly.

"you are nobody. you are an imposter that will get nowhere," he said with a low, raspy voice. the coyote stared into the wolf's dark, cold eyes. there was stillness for a moment. neither had any expression. then...

ten laughed in his face.

he was hysterical. the more he thought about, the more he laughed. the wolf stared wide-eyed at the laughing coyote. his canines were on full display, his head tilting back as he let out robust laughter.

"shut the fuck up!" the wolf screamed. it only made ten laugh more, "what's funny?"

"oh my god, oh my god," ten said through gasped laughter, "that's too good," he said as he wiped the tears from his eyes.

"what?" the wolf asked.

"you really think i won't get anywhere?" ten rhetorically asked, "you're the one beating on some skinny coyote kid because you have a superiority complex,"

"a what?"

"oh yes, almost forgot you all can't even spell your own fucking names," ten let out a disappointed sigh, "here's it in more simple terms, you're dicks too tiny so you make up for it by beating me up,"

"what?"

"i know your brain is the size of a grain of rice, but don't tell me your ears don't work either,"

"shut the fuck up already!"

"come on, do something. i know you think with your fists. hit me, cunt," ten taunted, moving his chin out.

the wolf drew his fist back, ready to punch the coyote for the fourth time, but he didn't. he let ten drop back to the sidewalk and walked off with a scoff. ten watched with a blank expression as the three walked away.

when they were fully out of view, ten got up and began to walk in the direction of his parents' home. the stinging in his neck and the soreness of his body was masked by his excitement to see his mom again. disappointment was inevitable, but he missed his parents too much to reschedule dinner.

"baby!" a cheerful female voice said as ten opened the front door of a decently sized house in a gated community. ten smiled and removed his shoes before entering the kitchen.

his mother's face dropped when he saw the state of her son. her ears pulled back and fear was evident in her expression.

"again? why are you always getting into fights?" she asked as she stepped closer to the boy. ten shrugged his shoulders and inched closer, wrapping his mother is a hug.

he snuggled his nose into he neck, mumbling, "i missed you, mom,"

"i missed you too," she said back with a tender smile. she pulled away to see his injuries. her smile turned sour as she noticed the still bleeding bite wound on his neck. she brought the pad of her thumb to the skin around it and watch his ten's eyes scrunch.

"where's the kid?" a deeper voice called from within the house. ten's eyes opened and moved to the doorway of the kitchen where his father stood. he heard him let a disappointed sigh.

he heard that same sigh every time he would return. it always crushed him, but he didn't want to seem weak so he gave a big smile and ran over to his dad, giving him a warm hug.

"what was the fight about this time?" his dad asked as he pulled away.

"this cute she-cat that hit on me, but it turns out she had a boyfriend," ten replied with a hearty laugh.  his dead let out an awkward laugh as well, but stopped once he noticed the bite mark on his neck.

ten noticed his laughter stop and studied his eyes to see what he was looking at. his neck. ten immediately covered the wound with his hand, looking away out of embarrassment.

"ten," his dad began, "you're going to have scars forever. coyotes look even weaker with scars-"

"even weaker? do you think i'm weak?" ten widened his eyes at his father.

getting beaten up by three wolves hurt bad enough, but being called weak by his own father stung worse than any punch he'd had thrown at him. his father looked at a loss. he knew he'd made a mistake.

his father's eyes trailed to his mother, who was displaying a face of disgust and hurt.

ten's eyes filled with tears as he looked at his father, expecting some explanation. there was a moment of hesitation is his father that made him too hurt to imagine.

he'd never thought for a second that his parents thought of him as weak.

"dad?" he asked, his voice cracking slightly as he held back the urge to cry.

"no, you're not weak. that's not what i meant,"

ten let out a scoff, "then why did you say it?"

before his father could defend himself, ten turned and walked toward the front door. he grabbed his shoes and left without bothering to put them on.

he ran down the street, his socks becoming dirty and damp. he ran in any direction, wanting to his mind off of everyone. he didn't want to think about wolves, his parents or even taeyong.

he sprinted fast. his thighs became sore, his lungs burned. he didn't think to stop. if he stopped, everything would come back to him. he couldn't stop.

that idea was halted due to someone running into him. he let out a groan as their bodies fell against the concrete. ten let himself catch his breath as he looked up to see who ran into him. he was about ready to scream at the person, but he stared into the familiar thin pupils that made him completely freeze.

"taeyong?"
