I wasn't sure I was ready when the time finally came. The suspense was killing me, I wanted to know where we were and what he had planned for us, I was excited, so I did what he said. Confusion filled my stomach first then tears filled my eyes, I think it was the twinkle lights that hung from the tiny abandoned church, the sun setting perfectly behind the building and the trees surrounding it. Then I looked down and saw Dean on one knee in front of me.
"Oh my god Dean..." I couldn't even finish, form another word, my mind was mush, my heart was in my stomach.
"Harlow Warren, I know we've only known each other for two months but in that short amount of time I've loved you like I've never loved before. I've felt the love I knew my parents had and only imagined I'd have one day, I now share that with you. I have a family with you and I want to make it official, I want you to be my wife. I want to have babies with you and grow old with you I want to adopt Stella and I want to be your husband. Harlow will you marry me?" He vowed on his knee
Now tears were streaming down my face, they were happy tears, never in my life have I been this happy.
"Nothing would make me happier than to be your wife. I want everything with you. I want to have your babies and grow old with you. Yes I will marry you Dean"
He stood up, picked me up smiling his glorious smile, and kissed me.
"Why did you pick this spot to propose?" I asked looking at the beautiful setting. I felt it had so much more meaning than just the place his parents got married.
" You liked it and its special to me. Back when my parents got married here it was a tiny church. Now it's clearly not, just a building"
"Then why don't we get married here?" I suggested
" are you serious? All the way out here?"
" trust me I'm sure your parents had a lot more people than I bet we will. You know more people than I do so they will all be for you. So if you think they will fit then I'd love to make you happy by getting married in the same place your parents did."
"I love you Harlow, I'd love that. Let's go back home I have one more suprise for you there."
We got back in the boat and I couldn't keep my hands or my lips off of him. I was so in love with him. He turned around and started the engine and I finally looked down at my ring, it was beautiful and huge. It was a vintage rose gold pear shaped diamond, and I was in awe. He reached back for my hands and folded his in mine.
"This ring is incredible" I gushed
"It was elle mays ring from my grandfather, when he died around my parents 5th wedding anniversary she gave it to my dad to give it to my mom. He had it upgraded every five years. Then for their 20th anniversary he had it sent off to be upgraded. It arrived after the accidentso she wasn't wearing it that night. I've had it ever since."
"Dean it's amazing."
He just smiled at me and looked out over the water.
The longer we sat on the water, the more my stomach issues car back. I kept trying to push them back but to no avail. I wasn't going to make it back to the house without getting sick, I leaned over the boat and emptied my stomached into the water. Dean came up behind me and rubbed my back.
"are you ok?"
" I'm more sick than I thought. I didn't want to ruin our date, our amazing evening. But I feel really sick, like nauseous, and dizzy." I leaned back into him.
"It's ok. You haven't ruined anything, it was amazing and the suprise at home doesn't have to be long. We're almost there, then you can rest and stare at your ring."
