3rd person pov

The precursors were hell-bent on terraforming the earth. They sent Kaiju after Kaiju to try and succeed with little luck.

But when Newt had drifted with a Kaiju brain it opened up a whole new possibility of plans. The first one was when Newt used the Jaeger drones to make small breaches to bring Kaiju through.

Now phase 2 of their plans was in motion. They had a machine to make one small breach. The breach was only open for 5 minutes at a time though, allowing one Kaiju through.

Kaiju were manufactured like crazy only to be scraped once the results came back from the previous specimen. This cycle looped again and again, never stopping, never breaking.

It seemed that the human's also adapted, changed, evolved to meet the circumstances. Every challenge thrown at them, they beat. It was getting annoying and repetitive.

So here he was. The leader of the precursors. Leaning over the barrier of the Kaiju factory. The machine fired up again, this time sending Tripple-Strike to the place human's called 'Long Island Sound'.

An excited glint appeared in his many eyes. He turned and waited for the results to return.

Jenna tried to make amends but only got a scowl in return. I wanted to let her in, since she had been in my mind twice now, but I couldn't let anyone else get hurt by him. Not again.

My mother and Jake entered thkoe room. "RANGER ON DECK!" One person yelled. We all stood in lines waiting for an update.

"At ease cadets" Jake said, "we just want Kai and Jenna to step outside for a bit." I was puzzled. We followed them until we reached our destination.

Someone, like 18-20, was spinning in one of the chairs in the ranger break room. "This is Jaxon Arc. He will be your new operator and will help you drift easier by blocking out certain memories" my mother said introducing us.

I had a good look at him. Strong facial features. Dark blond hair. Powerful brown eyes with a spark that I couldn't quite understand. Overall he seemed like a good guy.

I held out my hand. "I'm Kai, Kai Treaty" I said giving him a weak smile. He shook my hand looking me in the eyes.

Jenna pushed past me and shook his hand Introducing herself. We chatted until simulation time. When we got there Jake put us in first to get us used to Jaxon.

We strapped in and got ready to drift. "Activating neural handshake" Jaxon said dragging memories into a secure file on the holographic screen.

I closed my eyes and waited for the worst. "Loading Gypsy Avenger and Knifhead" Jaxon said sliding another memory into the secure file.

We drifted. This time there was no memories of Steve. Relief entered my mind and the simulation became clear. Knifehead roared.

Surprise flashed between our two minds as we got familiarized with the Jaeger. I pushed buttons and flipped switches. A rocket flew out from our shoulder.

'Uh.....' I thought, sending a message through the drift. The missile hit Knifehead and penetrated the outer layer of skin.

Kaiju blue oozed out of his wound. 'And that is why you study before a test' Jenna relayed through our Drift connection.

I shyly shrugged. 'Engage sword' I thought as we flicked our right wrist, allowing the plasma blade to fly out of our wrist bracer.

We plunged our sword into Knifehead's chest and ripped him apart. I huffed and puffed. The simulation crept back into the corner of our vision.

Adrenaline pulsed through my body. I unclasped the helmet from my head and let it fall next to me. I ran to Jaxon and gave him the biggest hug I could give. He seemed shocked. I held on to him until Jake literally pried me away from him.

The rest of the week I had a smile on my face. This was looking to be a good choice.
