Chapter: 10

Kai pov

The rest of the week went by in a flash. Every time Jenna and I drifted together, it felt like we were getting closer and closer to each other. One day, today, everything in our schedule changed.

"Listen up cadets! Today you start your training in the full sized, proper jaegers. You will be walking around the complex as a test run for when you become fully fledged pilots. Try to keep safe and not to destroy anything on your little walk around. We meet up in the jaeget bay in t-minus 5 minutes" Jake said before leaving our quarters.

We packed up any games we were playing and made our way to the jaeger bay. Once we exited the main hallways onto the open deck I looked up at all the different Jaegers that surrounded us like the knights of the round table.

We met up with Jake, my mother, Jaxon and a team of engineers. Jaxon was tapping away at a tablet that he held in his hands. He frowned inl frustration and tapped harder.

My mother looked over and by the way she looked worried I could only assume that something was off. I jogged over to them and asked what was going on. Jaxon looked up and showed me the tablet.

It showed what jaeger was assigned to what pair. I looked down the list until I found my name next to Jenna's. The Jaeger beside our names kept switching between Gypsy Avenger and some Jaeger named, Poseidon Alpha.

I raised an eyebrow, "what's Poseidon Alpha?" My mother grabbed the tablet and brought up some restricted blueprints to the mystery jaeger. I scanned the document looking for anything related to Poseidon.

I accidentally dragged my finger across the tablet causing the page to turn. "The ability to manipulate water with a pilot that has the right capabilities. Mini water capsules hidden in the Jaeger to quickly generate weapons and armor" I read out. I looked up at my mother in complete shock.

"Was this designed for me?" I asked referring to the Jeager. She nodded and something burst inside me. My very own Jaeger. My eyes widened and I jumped up thrusting my fist into the air.

Jenna came over to see what all the commotion is and almost backed up after I almost hit her. "HEY TREATY! IM WALKING HERE!" She said before punching my shoulder.

I pouted and poked her shoulder in response. She rolled her eyes and asked what going on. I started rambling on about the new Jaeger. After a few seconds she place her hand over my mouth with a glare that could kill.

I shut up instantly. A chopper landed next to us. "Ok Kai and Jenna this is your ride to Poseidon Alpha. Radio in once you have touched down. We'll use the satellite to keep track after that. Good luck and dont go swimming with the fishes" Jake said before redirecting the other cadets away from the chopper.

"ITS NOT FAIR! I'VE BEEN HERE LONGER THAN ANY OTHER CADET! I DESERVE A NEW JAEGER BASED AFTER ME!" Someone yelled out. I turned to see someone running towards me with a wrench he found lying around.

I sighed and as he tried to hit me, grabbed the wrench and lifted him up by his collar. He wriggled in my grasp but when you train at camp Half-blood year after year you learn a few things.

I shook my head and lifted my head to stare him in his eyes. Now he was wriggling in fear. "Who are you?" I asked my voice just above a whisper.

"Mason."

"Well Mason, when you go through what I have been going through since before I was born and stop acting like you own the goddamn place, then and only then, can you possibly get your own Jaeger" I said before throwing him to the ground.

"Get out of my sight" I said before turning and walking to the chopper. Everyone was in shock. I hoped in the chopper and sent a glare into Masons eyes and he scrambled away to the group.

I cooled down after the little Mason incident soon after we left the shatterdome. The off-site facility came into view soon after we left the Corps airspace.

A small island was teraformed to allow space for the facility to operate. And by a small estimation I'm guessing that it goes deep under ground. I spotted a landing pad that had a crack down the center of it.

I mentioned this to Jenna who frowned in confusion. I suppose that she dosen't like not knowing the answer.

We touched down and exited the chopper. I ran my fingers across the crack on the landing pad. "Some sort of hanger door" I said to Jenna.

She nodded. Suddenly the floor started shifting. I fell to the floor because of the sudden movement. I scrambled to some non-moving land and stood up.

The hanger door had opened and Poseidon Alpha arose from the underground facility. I looked up in awe at the enormous machine. A cannon was welded to it's right arm with a cord running to a water canister on it's back.

An officer beckoned us over to a door next to the Jaeger. He led us to the boarding runway and stayed with us until we had safely strapped in. I looked around the cabin and dragged my fingers across the wall.

"Hey Treaty, let's get this machine up and running" Jenna called from the main console. I rolled my eyes and strapped into the Jaeger. I felt a quick pain and saw a needle draw blood from my arm into a syringe.

"Blood synthesized. Match. Jaeger powering up" a computerized voice called out as the cockpit lit up. Two pairs of gauntlets appeared in front of us. I slipped them on and instantly felt my powers connecting to Poseidon Alpha.

I could tell that Jenna could feel my powers too. I smiled and grabbed the helmet from the ceiling to begin the drift sequence.

"Activating drift sequence in 3, 2, 1" some operator said over the radio. The familiar blue haze bordered my mind as we drifted into our memories. One memory that kept popping up was when we first met each other.

A smile tug at my lips. Soon the blue haze faded and we had synced up. We took a step forward and familiarize ourselves with the new Jaeger. I looked at Jenna and we nodded.

"FORM SWORD!" We yelled for no apparent reason and a compartment opened from the left wrist and water burst out. It solidified and made a razor sharp saber.

We swung it and drew it across the right palm. We made our way to the ocean and used my water powers to create a turret that fired blobs of water.

"This is awesome!" I said as the turret collapsed into the water.

Suddenly a Jaeger burst out from the ocean. I looked and saw Gypsy Avenger in a fighting stance stand before us.

The radio crackled to life as the pilots of Gypsy Avenger tried to contact us. I pushed the radio button and awaited the following conversation.

"You ready for a test run cadets?" Jake said over the coms. I looked at Jenna and could see that she wouldn't reject a challenge. So we threw a punch at the Jaeger.

They went down like dominos. We circled them until another Jaeger jumped up from behind us and wrapped its arms around us. The Jaeger picked us up and threw us over their shoulder.

We hit the ocean floor with a muffled bang. We pushed ourselves up and used the water to propel us towards the fight. Yet again another Jaeger placed their foot on our back and we were dragged across the ocean bed.

These guys are really getting on my nerves, I thought.

I know, Jenna thought back. I smiled and we placed our hand on the ground and spun, sweaping our leg out to trip the other Jaegers, and jumped up to the surface.

They all fell in usion and we smirked. I took a page out of Percy's book and used the water to keep them in place so that the Jaegers heads were just above the waters surface.

"Let's end todays training lesson on a good note ok? How about we all bead back to the shatterdome, its not that far of a walk in these things." Jake said over the radio, basically saying that we had to let the rest of the cadets go.

I sighed and released the Jaegers. We dove into the water and speed off without them.
