After we agreed to meet, I shut my eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

I woke to a hand on my shoulder. It was him.

"Christine, come on." He instructed. I quickly stood, and followed him.

"Where is the escape path?" I asked.

"In his room."

"His room?"

"Yup." He said.

"Why can't we just exit through the doors?"

"It is being guarded." He then grabbed my hand, and pulled me towards the master's room.

Through the hallway, Erik and I crept. The floor board creaked every step I took. Erik pushed me back into a corner. He held his hand over my mouth. I didn't know why, but then I saw a guard coming. The guard walked by slowly. After he left, I gasped for air.

"Thanks." I whispered. Erik didn't reply.

We finally reached a door, avoiding obstacles.

"Christine, if only one of us makes it out, please run. Run as fast as you can."

"I'm not going to leave you behind."

"You must." I nodded.

He opened the door. And there lay the master sleeping on his bed. Next to him was a lever.

"I have to pull the lever and you have to run to the opening." He instructed, while he pointed. Erik tip toed to the side of the bed. The master moved. Erik pulled the lever. A secret passageway appeared. An alarm went off. I ran just as Erik said, and the master woke. He saw Erik. I saw Erik run towards me, trying to out run the master. We made it. He pressed a button closing the passageway. I was so relieved.

"Erik. What do we do now?"

"We walk." He said. Him and me walking through a dark passageway underneath the mansion. This reminded me of when he took me under ground beneath the opera house. There was no light. Not a glimpse of the outside world. There was a torch a head. I wanted light. I was holding onto Erik so tightly, I could feel his pulse. I reached for the torch, but Erik quickly stopped me.

"No." He said. He had his hand on my arm. He guided my arm down. "I know where I'm going."

I trusted him. I knew he will keep me from harm.

We walked for what seemed like hours. I didn't think I could walk any farther.

"Erik, I'm tired." I said, and I yawed.

"Ok." He said. He stopped. I sat down, and he followed. I shut my eyes, and I heard his voice. "When you wake, we'll be far away."

I opened my eyes, and I was lying by a tree. I saw Erik sitting next to me smiling.

"Glad to see that you're awake."

"What happened?" I asked. My vision still in a blur.

"That doesn't matter. The main thing is, is that we're away."

I stood up, and brushed the grass off my legs. Erik joined me.

"Well, Erik. I really want to thank you. Whatever, or however you got both of us out of there. I guess this is good bye then."

"Yes." He said. His voice sounded like it was breaking.

"Goodbye Erik." I kissed him on the cheek, and walked away. After that I didn't know what happened to him, but I felt horrible leaving him. After all, on his arm, was a part of his shirt wrapped around his arm, soaking up blood.
