I couldn't remember a thing. I woke up and I was surrounded by all white.

"Have a died?" I mumbled under my breath.

"Not quite, but close." A woman answered. She carried a clipboard and had a stethoscope around her neck. "Christine, you are very ill and you're in a hospital. You are battling a clog in your heart, which is why you passed out when you were drowning." A long pause came shortly after. "Unfortunately we cannot fix this heart disease you carry in your genes, but I can assure you, you will die in the most peaceful way possible."

"H-how," I stumbled with my words. "how did I get here?"

"Fortunately your husband Erik brought you here."

"He's not my husband." I told her.

"Well, let's not worry about that. You need to get your rest."

I closed my eyes as instructed and I felt something peculiar. It felt like death was upon me. I tried to open my eyes, but I couldn't. I could hear the heart monitor ring.

I could hear running in the distance. The man dropped flowers beside my bed. He placed his arms on my shoulders. I could also hear attendance running in. They said, "Erik, please leave. We need to transfer her to the morgue."

"Just give me one minute." And then I could hear them leave. "Christine, I know you're in there. You can't leave me here on earth without you. I'm sorry that my brother captured you a couple of times, and I'm sorry I was too late to be there. Please don't leave me. You're the only reason why I am on this planet." I could feel tears fall on my neck. "Please don't leave me." He spoke softly repeating. He placed his lips upon mine for one final kiss. The only thing I could do was kiss him back. My eyes still sealed closed. I tried to fight it. And I finally opened my eye lids and the heart monitor turned off.

"I would never leave you." I whispered to Erik.
