Dalton drives along the road, turning here and there until we reach a big field. He parks his truck in the grass and we both climb out. Walking toward the field I see the teams are warming up on the field. Dalton walks up to the fence and 2 other guys walk up to him and begin talking to him.
"Jacob, Tyler, this is Sidney. She just moved here with her aunt for the summer." Dalton says putting his hand around my waist. Tyler gives me an awkward look, but that can't be my Tyler from when I was little. It can't be. Jacob just politely shakes me hand. they finish their conversation about going out after the game for dinner and me and Dalton walk over to the bleachers. He walks me to the top so we have a nice view of the field. The teams have flipped the coin and our team has bat first.
"Would you like anything before the game starts?" Dalton says blushing a little. He's so adorable.
"No thanks, I'm fine." I say looking down at my hands in my lap. Tyler is still getting under my skin about everything. What if it is him? He probably wouldn't know me if it was him. He looks really great now too. I try and just focus my attention back on the game when I feel a hand reach over to grab mine. I smile at Dalton and of course he is blushing hard.
"First to bat is the catcher for the Rebels, number 9, Tyler White!" White. Tyler White.
"Dalton, how old are Jacob and Tyler?" I watch Tyler walk out to bat, swinging his bat in his hands to loosen his wrists.
"They're both a year older, why?" he says gripping my hand a little tighter.
"Just wondering." I say giving him a big, fake smile.
Tyler White. He would be 16 now. I look around the stands for his parents and sure enough, his mom Sherrie is sitting 3 rows down from us, cheering for her son. Tyler hits the ball on the first pitch and makes it to 2nd base.
He looks up at his mom and dad and nods his head then looks at the coach on 3rd watching the signals given for running. The next batter is up and the pitch is thrown and Tyler immediately charges at 3rd. Dang, he runs fast. By the time the catcher can get the ball to third base Tyler has already slide in, making him safe. The crowd cheers and so does Dalton, but not letting go of my hand to clap. The pitcher throws a ball right down the middle and the batter hits it right toward 2nd base. Tyler starts in a sprint toward home base and is running across the plate in no time.
The rest of the game went smoothly, we won 17-8. The team went into the dugout and you could hear cheers from the team. Me and Dalton walked down the stairs to the fence and he talked to Jacob, confirming the restaurant.
"We are going to Mexican surprise surprise." Dalton says as we walk back to the truck. He reaches for my hand and starts playing with my fingers, eventually holding my hand. I like Dalton. He's sweet and funny, but there's something I just can't get past, I can't figure it out though.

After driving about 5 minutes we park in the lot of the restaurant and get out if the truck. Tyler and Jacob and another guy pull in after us and park. Dalton and I walk in and take our seats at the big half circle booth. A girl walks in with Jacob, Tyler, and the mystery guy. She looks older, maybe 16 or 17. Tyler slides in and sits next to Dalton and the girl slides in beside him, mystery guy and Jacob sit beside each other next to her.
Dalton greets the guys and congratulates them on winning. I get introduced to the guy, Jerry is his name, and he's very nice and funny. The girl was Tyler's girlfriend, Teala was her name. Teala was bossy with Tyler and all over him. She was either holding his hand, had her hand on his chest, always something. Dalton just held my hand loosely and talked with Jacob and Jerry. Something is still odd with me and Dalton, I really don't think our relationship is gonna go anywhere. After we eat I politely side hug the guys and say goodbye to Teala. Teala didn't seem like a hugger. Tyler was the one that got me. He had changed his shirt and even though he had just played a game of baseball he still smelled warm and comforting. Dalton drove me home and Aunt Maria was sitting on the front porch reading. Dalton walked up and said goodnight to her and I and he walked back to his truck and left.
I walked inside, exhausted, and I flop onto the bed. My phone chimes and I look to see an unknown number.
555-911-7768:
