3 o'clock finally rolled around and a steady knock came from the front door. Aunt Maria beat me to the door and immediately engulfed Tyler in the biggest hug. He had a big smile on his face, his dimples becoming visible.
"Maria how have you been? It has been so long! Mother asked for you to call her to get together soon."
"Oh Sherrie, I've missed the sweet Lady. Yes tell her I'll be in contact as soon as possible. There's snacks in the kitchen if you two would like anything." she smiles as she turns to walk to the study.
"Well if it isn't Miss. Siddy Parker?" he looks down at me and smirks walking toward the kitchen. I grab a tray of snacks and we walk downstairs to my room. We sit on my bed and I turn on the tv and we sit in an awkward silence for a few minutes.
"I'm sorry Sid" I hear a soft voice come from my right. I jerk my hear to look his way and see his head looking to his lap. "I lost you Sidney. When we moved to such a small town and an even smaller school it was easy to make new friends. But I never forgot you Sid. I would think about you day and night. The separation led to so much I was stressed out and down and couldn't sleep, and eventually my parents took me to talk to someone and they told me to move on. I don't know why I forgot, how I stopped thinking about you all the time, all I know is I never was the same." His blue eyes had become glossier with every word he choked out.
"Is it true; people say you've changed." we both are speaking in small voices at this point.
"Yea. I've been trying to fill a void I guess. Like a piece of me I lost. My best friend. When I lost you I couldn't think straight and everything became a blur. I was doing things that I wasn't thinking about would hurt anyone just to make myself feel better." He was looking down shamefully.
"People do that sometimes. We try to make others feel the pain we deny feeling, when in reality it's what consumes us." Both of us stared at the tv not paying any attention to what was on it. There was a slight small ruffle on my bed and warm soft fingers grazed against the side of my hand. Without breaking out stare at the tv our hands found the other and we sat in a comfortable silence for a while.
"I want to show you what I feel Sid." Tyler said with a lack of confidence. All that escaped my lips were the barely audible words,"do it." He slowly put his hands on my face and we sat there waiting for what we both knew was happening. Slowly we both leaned forward and his soft lips grazed mine before he planted a subtle kiss on my lips.
"That's what I feel. I've never felt that kind of compassion or the 'sparks' when I kissed someone."His face was filled with amusement as the words poured out. As he reached into his pocket he pulled out 2 tickets. "Miss.Sidney I do believe the may be one extra ticket to a very special amusement park. Would you do me the honors of accepting the ticket and of being my lovely outstandingly beautiful girlfriend?"
