(A/N: if you read my original Soul Eater story, this will be familiar. I'm expanding from where I cut off in the old story.)
Skye's P.O.V
"No." Lord Death said sternly
I glared at him "Why not?" I hissed
"You couldn't do it years ago, what makes you think you can now?" he said
"I was a child." I retorted
"You're still a child."
"Lord Death? You wanted to see us?" I heard Maka say as she walked in with the others
"Skye, what's with your stand off with Lord Death?" Hogo asked
"If you really want to take this quest, you're going to take it with them." Death said
I glared at Nova. I knew she knew about this already. We had got into a fight about it last night but I wasn't letting her or Death stop me.
I hardened my glare at Death "This is my fight." I hissed "I'm not putting them in danger."
"Then you're not taking the quest." he hissed back
"Watch me." I said "Anakar."
Anakar, one of my snakes, slipped from my sleeve and quickly snatched the paper with the location away from him. Once he was away from Lord Death I set a circle of vector plates to keep him from stopping me.
"Karia." I said
Karia, my largest snake, blocked off the door. She was the size of the room so there was just barely enough room to fit her and everyone. She moved slightly so I could get out before blocking off the door once again.
Hogo's P.O.V
"What's the quest?" I asked Lord Death
"To take down a horde of kishins. Even a second of hesitation can cost her her life." Nova said, seeming to already know what was going on
"Is this what you two got into that fight about yesterday?" Sara asked her
Nova just nodded solemnly.
"If it's fighting kishins, she shouldn't have a problem. She swore to herself she would reverse what happened to her. She hates all kishin......" I said before pausing "even herself." I mumbled
"Are you sure about that. All of them?" Lord Death asked
"What are you getting at?" I asked, losing my patience at the thought of him keeping secrets about Skye from me
"One of the most powerful kishins there is Victor. He's the leader of the horde." he explained "He escaped the day she gave him to me and will do anything to get her back but if she refuses him, he will kill her. If she can't kill him this time, she won't have another chance."
(A/N: you know who Victor is if read my previous story but he's a kishin boy she used to be in love with and a part of her still is, however, it couldn't work out between them.)
My eyes shot open wide and I went to run after her but Karia let out a hiss of warning. Kaibo placed a sympathetic hand on my shoulder. The pain in her eyes was enough for my to fall to my knees with worry.
"Even if she does it," she said, her voice strained "she'll never be the same."
Skye's P.O.V
I ran with tears stinging my eyes, threatening to fall. I can only hope they understand and bring themselves to forgive me. Eventually my legs gave out from beneath me and I could do nothing but curl into a ball in the dirt. Sleep didn't come easy. My mind was overrun by thoughts and worry but eventually I was blanketed by the blackness of the night and drifted into a dreamless sleep. Morning came quickly and I followed the directions to where the kishin horde was located. I took a deep breath and silently transformed my arm into a blade. I quickly peeked over the side of the wall then counted in my head, waiting for the exact moment that the guard would walk to my end of the wall. Once I finished counting I moved my blade arm out and waited the few seconds for the thud of the guard's body hitting the ground. I walked out from the corner and stared down at the guards body, blood oozing from his slit throat. I picked up the kishin soul and placed a perimeter of vector plates around the hide out building then ate the kishin soul of the guard.
