"Not everyone you lose is a loss."
"Savannah. You remember me, right?" Noah asked.
"Yeah. It's good to see you again. I hope what you did to Derek doesn't mean you've changed for the worse."
"..Forget it. Don't talk to me."
"Sound like you wanted to say something."
"I did, I wanted to ask you not to speak to me."
"Yeah, right. So why did you ask?"
"... No reason. Don't act smart."
"Yeah, yeah. You know you can just say whatever you want to say. Free country, Noah," I smirked.
"Would you shut up already?" He whisper-shouted. I rolled my eyes.
"So tell me why you're so rude to me. I thought we were friends before?"
"It's never too late to shut up and mind your own business. I don't hang with people like you."
"What's that supposed to mean?" I snorted. "What type of 2000's high school movie are we in? I mean if you even thanked me for opening the door for you the school would change their minds about me because they'll hop on the bandwagon and follow the popular guys lead. And if you spat in my face everyone would, too. No one will change their minds about you."
"Yes, you are completely right. 100% of people who hang out with stupid people are likely to get everyone to like them. According to the stupid person's brain, actually."
"Teehee. You're the person who came up with the statistics. I don't think you should insult yourself, Noah."
Noah glared at me.
"I'm sorry. Want to start over?" I shook my head, that was so rude of me.
"Noah and Savannah, detention for 30 minutes after school."
I sighed.

"Wait, so you're going to detention with Noah?" Derek glared at me.
"If I don't go, I'll be in more trouble." I shrugged. "We're probably going to argue again unless he finds his brain. He was so nice to people before."
"Before?"
"We used to be friends in middle school."
"Don't let him lay a finger on you, Sav," Elijah leaned back on the wall. "He's a player. Charming, but manipulative. It will hurt you in the end. Not him."
"So fighting is flirting now, Eli?" I laughed.
"I'm being serious."
"I know, I just don't agree," I stole a piece of chips from Elijah's sour cream and onion chips and got up. "He's never been that guy. Anyway, we're gonna be late for gym class. Let's go." I felt an elbow on my head and pushed it off, fixing my hair.
"Stop, Eli, I'm not your armrest," I pulled my hair back into a ponytail, a few dark locks falling on my face and neck.
"You're so short, you could be one." I elbowed him in the gut and ran into our changing rooms. I got dressed and met with Sarah by the gym lockers. I saw her beaming at her phone. I looked over her shoulder.
