5: Almost Caught

The next day, Sophie read the letter and wouldn't stop smiling and being giddy.
We were at my locker and she was reading it for the second time.
" This is so romantic. Who knew you were such the love writer."
I smiled.
"So when will you give it to him?"
"I was thinking maybe somewhere alone after school"
I replied.
"Perfect" Sophie squealed.
"Shhh.And don't let anyone see this"
"See what?"
We spun around in alarm and Sophie quickly hid the letter and envelope behind her.
"Hey, Velen" she said trying to sound cheery.
It was Velen Scott. A girl in my class. She had long black ebony hair and amazing blue eyes. Everyone liked her. Well, except Sophie. She claimed she never liked her from day one.
And Velen has dated Gavin before but now they've broken up...for some reason.

"What didn't you want anyone seeing?" She asked.

"Nothing. Nothing." Sophie replied again.

Velen was not convinced. " Then why are you both tensed up and panicky?"

"Nothing. We're both fine" I replied.

"Let's talk about you, how are you and Gavin?" Sophie asked.

"Good"

"I heard the two of you dated what made you break up?" Sophie asked. I felt her poking the paper at my hand. I took it and Sophie put her hand around Velen and started to lead her away.
"Let's talk this way."
She gave me a thumbs up and I turned and put the paper back in the envelope and threw it in the locker and quickly closed it.

"Wow that was close." Sophie said.

"Yeah" I replied.

"Shall we go to class?"

"Of course.
