Testing the Waters

kaito looks dauntingly at the stairway leading to the castle. The old sage chuckles and throws a token in fornt of them. Both of them are teleported to his Room inside the castle. kaito gazes at a wall filled with tasks and achievements. Above that he could see all the disciples' name and his name glitters at the last. He is the youngest of the disciples. The rest of them are more than 100yrs old. The old sage takes kaito to a Room with a pool in it. the old sage walks to the pool and the water in the pool surges upward to form a stairway with a throne of water at the end. The old sage tells him its just a flashy move and that the basics of water element are dull and tiresome to practice and that kaito should have a strong will power to control water. Old sage explains to him how at the start it will be difficult for him to even control a single column of water and may need 3 or 4 yrs just to master the basics of water. Enter the pool to test your affinity to water. Kaito enters the pool and sits in it calmly. Nothing happens for a minute or two. Suddenly a column of water upto 1ft rises up followed by 4 columns increasing in height. All the columns merge and form a tidal wave of 10 ft rushing towards the old sage. He calmly jumps over the wave and rides it.
when he turns to address kaito, he sees two eyes dark red in color staring at him.
"You puny sage, How dare you?teach him the ways of the sea, not your crappy,fancy moves. I know you have 15 other disciples nevertheless teach him everything that you know personally. I'll be keeping an eye on him. If you test my patience,I'll blast your abode to smitherens!!!"

The old sage moves into action mode, puts forth a strong barrier around him which even the other sages combined would take atleast 15mins to break through. But the next minute the barrier breaks and there is a loud laughter.

"Funny little man, rising a barrier against me? The Lord of the Netherworld Sea?? No man except that strange guy of the past has survived my wrath.Teach him the most powerful trick of yours or I'll raze down your place!!! hmmpphh!!!". The frightening aura fades off. Old sage breaths out in relief. kaito being a low lvl cultivator is not able to see the convo between oldsage and the Kraken. He only sees the towering wave.

The water in the pool calms down. kaito excitedly asks "oldsage How's my affinity to water?" Oldsage "pretty good", mumbles to himself " Holy shit!!the kraken is too OP".Psyched up and at the same time dies inside, thinks, got to be careful or I'll become tuna fish for the shark.

The Oldsage explains him about form,control and release of water.Water,Fire,Wind,Lightning are the elements which are difficult to train in. Forming water in a water body is easy. what about a place devoid of water? In this case note that water is present in the atmosphere as molecules. Concentrate deeply on it and feel the presence of water in the air. At first, You will be able to absorb only small droplets of water and after some months of training, you will be able to master the art of summoning water. I'll give you some basic scrolls on summoning water. the old sage also gives him a pouch to store his stuff. As soon as he touches the pouch, a Kraken symbol gets imprinted on his left arm. At the same time, in the netherworld sea, the Kraken releases a black ink to seal the pact between them. Kaito wonders what it is and asks the old sage about it. old age explains to him how a rare few of the humans who have strong innate talent attract some high lvl beasts and demons to form a pact for mutual growth. The pact can be revoked by the stronger of the two when he finds the other coward or unworthy of the pact. He explains that a Kraken has formed a pact with him and that the Kraken is a low lvl descended demon. Kaito asks"is it bad to form a pact with a demon?". Oldsage smiles and ruffles Kaito's hair, "there is no good or bad it all depends on how one views the circumstance. Am done for today, don't forget to have your dinner. The dining hall is on the 4th floor,10th room. Take rest and start afresh tomorrow". Kaito keeps gazing at the imprint on his left arm.

Note: Since I've read a lot of webcomics, there might be some influences here, pls vote and comment  your views on the story so that I can improve on it.
