In the morning, Kaito goes to the pool and  sits in the middle. He starts concentrating on the water in the pool. He tries absorbing the water from the pool, but is only able to create a ripple.

Kraken in the netherworld sea observing kaito, "this kid is lacking patience. Let me see how he  moves on."

After trying for sometime, kaito feels tired and sits staring at a flower floating in the pool. The flower seems to Bob up and down on the water. With no success in his basics, kaito leaves the pool disheartened. He goes to the old sage and asks him why he is not able to feel the presence of water within him and what to do to control the water. The old sage tells him" to each, his own way of  grasping the core. The basics determine how you create your core. If you gain the core through your own understanding or experience in life, the path ahead will be open always, but if you make your core based on other's understanding of water you will make a mark in the forsaken tournament but you won't be able to reach the peak of talent which I expect you to reach. Take your time, don't hurry on grasping your core because it is the one which will decide your life. I can't help you on this one." Kaito feeling dejected, walks off. He sees an oldman  training in sword art far off in the beach . He feels that "even though I am unable to grasp the essence of water, I should be able to toughen my body for combat." He goes and  kindly asks the oldman  his name and whether he can learn sword art from him. The oldman asks him why he wants to learn sword art.
Kaito," I want to become strong and focused." The old man "you do have a good soul. I've never taken a pupil in my entire life. Since you want to learn sword art, I'll show you a  basic move. If you are able to learn it one month, I'll take you in as my pupil. Look at my sword carefully. I'll do it once only." Kaori agrees. The oldman takes kaito with him to the seashore. He puts kaito down and grabs at his sword hilt. With a flick he removes the sword from the sheath. The roaring winds become silent. "Pay attention to what I am going to show you."
Kaito looks at him keenly. He
Plunges the sword into the sea and the sea parts, leaving a gap in the  middle. The gap goes on for a distance of 5 Metres and a depth of 10 metres. Kaito could only see a swish of the sword and was awestruck by the force of it. The oldman "If you are able to learn it in one month, you are fit enough to know my name, or else forget  about swordsmanship." Kaito thanks the oldman and promises to learn it within one month. He feels happy that he has lots of people to learn from. He walks off inside the castle to go to the armoury and choose a sword to practice.
