Chapter THREE
It's after nine, I'm on my way home but even the wind I get from driving with my roofless Wrangler, it doesn't shake off the humidity. I want to go for a swim as soon as I'm home. It'll help. Since I got here, I went into the pool only once. I prefer the waves and salty water over water in a tank but for tonight, it'll do.
As soon as I'm home, I remove my top and bottom and jump in the pool with my lingerie. Who cares anyway? It's not like there's a big difference between a bikini and a bra and panties. Plus, I'm alone here and I can do what the hell I want.
Now that my head is out of the water, I can hear and almost feel the vibration of the bass coming out of the music. The party is on next door and it gets me curious. The music is loud and more on the rock genre. I also hear voices, laughter, and splashes into their pool. It sounds fun, I guess.
I get a few lengths done before stepping out of the pool feeling refreshed.
I turn around toward the party one last time before entering the house and I spot them doing the same thing. Awkward. I wave at them and disappear from their sight with my bra and thong only.
Laughing nervously at what just happened, I run to my room to put some dry clothes on. Not planning on leaving the house, I don't care much about what I put on. I grab my Capri yoga leggings and a fitted crop top I used to wear to my yoga class.
As opposed to last night, tonight I'm not tired but there isn't much I can do. A walk on the beach would be fun but it's late and dark already. A movie? I sigh. I need food. On the hunt for something to eat, I dig in the freezer and refrigerator only to come out with salad and chicken.
Three knocks on my front door echoes and I know who it is. I hesitate for a short moment but decide to open the door because they know I'm here anyway. They just saw half of my ass, I blush.
I open the door and that same guy is there. This time, he's only wearing a low cute board short. "Hey, just checking in. Are we too loud?" He says standing on his heels. He looks nervous or drunk, maybe.
"Not too bad." I frown.
He hesitates a moment and I stand there looking at him. "You can come if you want." His invitation doesn't seem to be heartfelt.
"Is it my official invitation?" I cross my arms.
"It is." He clasps his hands together.
"I don't know."
"We have pizza, fries and as many beers as you want."
"I'll change and see you there."
"Don't bother. You're okay." He eyes me from head to toe and doesn't seem to care at all that I'm dressed in gym clothes.
"Okay." Should I mention to him that I'm not wearing underwear? Probably not. I can't say that I'm super comfortable with the clothes I'm wearing as they show a lot of skin and curves than I'm used to. Shaking that feeling off, I try not to think about it.
I follow him out the door and I'm starting to feel nervous again. I'll be the stranger at a party. This will be awkward. As soon as I'm on the other side of the fence, I'm offered a beer which I accept right away. I'm thirsty, still hungry but a beer will do. For now anyway.
"What's your name? I need to know if I want to introduce you to people." That makes sense.
"Aspen. You?"
"Wat." He says with a grin.
"Your name, what is it?"
"Wat. It's short for Watson." He laughs.
