Epilogue

Your eyes flung open and you lifted your head up to listen more closely. Again, there was a small knock on the door. You looked around to see what you could put on. Just by a stroke of luck, there was a bathrobe hanging on one of the chairs nearby. Not wanting to disturb the sleeping angel beside you, your body gracefully slid away until your feet touched the ground.

Putting on the robe, you tiptoed to the door and opened it. Behind it stood little Serah. Her smile was beaming and bashful, her hands behind her back.

"Hello, Ms. (y/n)." To your relief, she spoke softly.

"Hi, Serah. Um... May I ask what you're doing here so late?"

At the sight of the little girl, you instinctively clutched at the opening folds of your robe and put your whole frame in front of her, trying by any means necessary to hide what was behind the door.

The child twisted her left ankle in a bashful manner.

"Here. This is for you."

Slowly, Serah lifted her small arm up and in her hand was a gorgeous, bright-blue sylleblossom. You had seen many of these flowers in your time. This had to be the most beautiful one yet. It was larger than any of the others you had seen, and the most radiant in colour. You blinked in shock before you took it from Serah's hand and brought it put to your face for a better look. It smelled so nice.

"What exactly is this for?" you asked. You couldn't remember of anything you had done to deserve a flower from her again, like that time she had given you that bracelet for guiding her to the washroom. Come to think of it, that happened only a handful of hours ago.

The girl simply shrugged her tiny shoulders, her shy expression still on her features. She didn't seem to have an exact answer. You smiled. Now, you really thought she was an angel. "Well, thank you. You're always giving me flowery presents, aren't you?" you said in a cheerful voice, lightly ruffling up Serah's hair. She let out a small giggle as if she was being tickled and looked up at you with a small blush on her already rosy cheeks.

"You're welcome. I should go now. Mommy and Daddy are probably waiting for me. Goodnight," Serah replied before turning around and slightly skipping away.

As the little girl began to walk away, your eyes glanced down at the flower again. Only then did you realize something very important.

"Wait a minute...!" you called out. Luckily, she wasn't too far away to hear you and halted in her stride, turning back to you. "Where... did you get this from?"

What you realized was... it was a sylleblossom! You were holding a sylleblossom. A flower only found in the lush fields of Tenebrae. You were in Lucis, miles and miles away from the other country. Not only that, but Tenebrae was destroyed, burnt to the ground, completely obliterated. All that was left of it now was pure ash. All the sylleblossoms in existence should have been destroyed along with their land source. So, how in the world of Eos could Serah have found one in the first place?

"A man came up to me with it and told me to give it to you," Serah answered.

Could that be...?

"What did he look like? Did he tell you his name?"

"No, but he had black hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a black suit, too."

"Serah!" A voice called out in the vast hallways.

"I really have to go, now. Bye!" With that, Serah ran off around a corner. Once she was gone, you were felt standing there with thoughts swirling in your head. Once again, you gazed down at the now one-of-a-kind plant.

It was you, wasn't it... Noct?

What you held in your hand was proof of what your friend and king had promised you.

"I'm always watching over you guys. Even though I'm gone physically, I'm with you in spirit."

Without warning, a single tear oozed from your eye and dribbled down your cheek to your chin, subsequently dropping into the middle of the sylleblossom.

"I told you they would figure out stuff on their own," Gladio stated as he nudged Prompto's arm. The said blonde boy turned to see you and Ignis, hand-in-hand, walking over to him. Prompto smiled brightly.

"Hey, guys!" he said in his normal upbeat tone.

"Hey, Prompto," you replied, just as cheerful.

"You sound a bit jolly this morning. Is there any particular reason why?" Ignis asked, wondering why Prompto sounded much happier than he usually did... if that was even possible.

"Nah. I'm just in a good mood today," Prompto replied, hands on his hips, one of his ocean-blue eyes giving a quick wink. You shook your head and giggled. You knew he was hiding the truth: he was happy to see you and Ignis together again. Of course, he would never admit it in the latter's presence.

"Aren't you always in a good mood?" Gladio asked, folding his large arms over his chest.

"Yeah, but today I feel extra good!" He winked at you stealthily again which caused a giggle to escape your throat. Prompto surely was the greatest friend you could have asked for, along with Gladio, of course.

"Whatever," the large man stated, rolling his eyes, but also gave you a knowing glance and smile.

"So, what's the plan for today?" you asked, looking around the premises. You were in the former royal garden by the Citadel, people--mostly children-- digging up the soil and putting in fresh plants and seeds.

"From what I heard, someone suggested we should plant new flowers and stuff, considering that the old ones died because of the lack of sunlight."

You smiled, having a good idea of who that person was. After carefully scanning the area, you found Serah in the crowd of children excitedly patting down the dirt. She must have told her something, too.

"You guys wanna join us?" Prompto asked, handing over a packet of lily seeds. You gladly took it.

"You bet," you said before turning to the handsome man beside you. "How about you, Ignis?" He smiled and took your hand again.

"I'd love to."

Your own smile widened even further. Your hands pressed even tighter together, never wanting to let go. In all the years you had known Ignis, you had never seen him so happy. Your heart swelled with glee at the notion. Not wanting to make too much of a scene, you quickly pecked the man on the lips before leading him to an empty patch of land. As you began to plant the seeds, you thought about what Ignis must have gone through these last 10 years. It must have been so hard and confusing for him. He evidently did have some support, but it pained you to know that you couldn't be there with him. But, you were here with him now. And through all the hardships he faced, he was still the same man you had grown to love. You gazed at him lovingly as he placed the seeds in the ground and covered the dent with dirt.

While he was now disabled, he was not weak. Ignis Scientia was Blind but Strong.

Upon the balcony, away from everyone's sight, King Noctis and Queen Lunafreya stood side by side in each other's arms, happily watching the heartwarming scene below.

"You always knew how to cheer people up," Noctis stated to his wife.

The beautiful woman smiled and turned to him. "Not so much as you, My king."Noctis smiled before looking down at his friends.

"You think they'll be okay now?"

"They will be just fine."
