Matteo's pov

We finally made it to Victoria's restaurant. It was a little restaurant that smelled really good. The waiters and waitress were really nice and we didn't have to wait to get a table.

Me and Gio are currently seated at a table next to the window. A waiter came by, took down what drinks we wanted and five minutes later, my strawberry lemonade and Gio's lemonade arrived.

"So, what do you have planned for today?" I ask Gio as he drinks some of his lemonade. His jaws clench around the straw when he inhales and the juice flows into his mouth.

I can see his Adam's apple move up and down and it looks so attractive.

"Just hang out with you. I'm not going to work until tomorrow, so you have me all to yourself today." Gio says and gives me a smirk

"You're cute when you blush." I feel my skin heated up and I know red is all over my cheeks. Gio laughs and I can't help but laugh too.

"Gio if there was a zombie apocalypse and you had to save one person, who would it be?" He looks at me and takes another sip of his juice.

"That's a hard question. I would wanna save my family and friends, but I guess I'd save my mother." I nod, understanding why he chose his mother.

"What about you?" This question peaks my interest. My mouth goes dry and I don't know what to say.

I shrug and look down at my juice.

It goes silent, nobody saying anything.

"What was your high school years like?" Gio asks and I look up at him.

"It was fun. I was on the football team, I got good grades, I was the popular kid. Everyone loved me." Gio smiles and I twirl my straw in my glass. The strawberries look so appetizing that I would actually stick my fingers in and grab each and every one of them.

"I remember my high school years. It feels as though I still relive them." Gio says and looks at the window.

"Damn. Are you that old?" He laughs and looks at me before running his fingers through his hair.

"I'm only 30 Matteo. How old are you?"

"24." The waiter comes back with our food. I didn't know what exactly to get, so I just ordered the same thing that Gio did.

A hamburger with fries on the side.

Gio grabs the ketchup and squirts it on his fries. Handing me the bottle, I take it from him and do the same.

Eating the fries, my stomach feels better and I can't help but wonder what would've happened if Gio and his friends didn't help me that night.

I'm lucky to have him.
