Chapter title: "The one where Mufusa falls to his death"

Meadow woke up to pressure on top of her, confusing her. As she went to move, Mikey stirred and yawned. She stared at Mikey, trying not to blush, Meadow didn't want to admit it, but she enjoyed being like this, in Mikey's arms. It brought up feelings she didn't want to acknowledge.

Mikey woke up and stared at Meadow, wide-eyed. They sprung apart, both as red as a tomato. "I'm sorry!" Mikey spluttered out, "I should have just left and-"

"No!" Meadow said to quickly, "I mean, you have my permission to stay. I actually liked it, it made me feel safe," she whispered the last part to herself, so quietly that Mikey only just heard, unbeknownst to Meadow.

Awkwardness filled the room, oozing into every crack. Meadow coughed, "I think my grandmother is staying at my aunt's for the weekend, to get away from here I guess..."

Mikey nodded, "will you be okay alone?"

Meadow shrugged, "probably. I'll order pizza or something." 'Unless you wanted to stay too?' Meadow added in her head.

Mikey nodded again, "maybe Gerard and I could come over after for dinner? We can never say no to pizza."

Smiling, Meadow stood up, "yeah sure. Well, goodbye?"

"Yes. Goodbye, Meadow," Mikey answered.

As Mikey left, Meadow sighed and leaned back against a wall, trying to calm her fluttering stomach. 'I can't like Mikey. It will destroy our friendship.' These thoughts swam around her head, making her feel drained and exhausted.

Meadow stumbled into the kitchen to take her medication, as she grasped the bottle, a wave of coughing travelled through her, causing her to drop the bottle and the contents to spill on the floor. She shook her head, bending down to grab the pills when she stopped. Blood was dripping on the floor. Reaching her hand up to her mouth, she came away with blood. "Blood! Oh god, I just coughed up blood!" She shrieked, "oh god, oh god... It's going to stain!"

Rushing to the sink, she grabbed the sponge and scrubbed at the floor, slowly but surely getting rid of the blood that splattered the floor. It took her an hour to fully get rid of the little amount of blood that stained the kitchen floor. She used every cleaning product that graced the earth, praying that the stain came out.

A fresh layer of sweat coated her forehead from the sudden stress and the lingering thought that 'oh my god I'm dying.' She shook her head, 'no I'm not. Just bronchitis.'

Sighing, Meadow popped a pill into her mouth, downing it with a glass of water. She looked at the clock, four hours until Mikey and Gerard arrived. 'I guess I can have a quick nap..'

Curling into her bed, Meadow buried her head into the pillow and fell into a dream-filled sleep.

---

She was falling, never slowing down and never speeding up, just falling into a black void. For some reason, she was oddly calm, accepting her fate that she was falling and she couldn't stop it. Down below she could see a figure coming closer to her, slowly she stopped falling, floating to the bottom. The figure had a blurred out face, giving Meadow no indication of who it was. She followed the figure down a dimly lit corridor and into a room with a dozen more people, all with their face blurred out. Right in the centre was a figure dress in a black robe, sweeping along the floor. Meadow knew who it was straight away; it was Death, and standing next to Death was the only figure who Meadow could see clearly; it was her mother. She looked sullen and pale, her cheeks hollow and her eyes dull and grey. It didn't look like the mother Meadow used to know. Her mother opened her mouth to say something, and suddenly she was met with the whole room screaming.

---

Meadow awoke in a cold sweat, panting. She brought her shaking hands to her face and breathed slowly, trying to calm down from the nightmare. Eventually, she was able to calm herself down, instead, focusing on going downstairs for a drink. As Meadow shuffled down the stairs, she didn't see the figures until one of them grabbed her from behind, making her scream and elbow them in the nose. The person let go of her and groaned and Meadow turned around with her fist raised only to relax again, "Gerard what the hell?"

"I was trying to scare you! How was I supposed to know that you would pull out your freaking Judo or whatever the hell that was!" Gerard said, flustered.

"It wasn't anything special, just an elbow, Gerard. Even Mikey could do it."

"I feel personally targeted," Mikey piped up, moving up from the couch he was situated on, "I could totally mess up Gerard's face." As if to prove his point, Mikey stood up and moved over to his older brother, "you know, now that I see that you are a decent amount taller than me, maybe I couldn't."

Meadow laughed, instantly regretting it as she started to cough again.

"Hey, are you okay?" Mikey asked.

"Yes," Meadow huffed in response, crossing her arms over her chest, "for the very last time I am fine. It's not like I'm dying or anything."

"Have you taken your medication today?" Mikey asked another question.

"Yes, mother,"  She responded sarcastically, "can we order pizza now?"

Gerard chuckled, "It's already on its way - extra large meat lovers."

Meadow nodded thoughtfully, her face lighting up when the doorbell rung. She ran to the door and paid for the pizza, sitting down with the box in hand, ready to eat. Turning on the TV, she placed on a movie and ignored her friend's protests.

"Mulan? Seriously?" Sighed Mikey.

Meadow shushed Mikey in response, leaning forward to listen to the movie.

---

The night dragged on, Disney movie after Disney movie playing, much to the boy's dismay. After Mulan was the Little Mermaid and after that, it was Sleeping Beauty, by the fourth movie Mikey had lost count. Gerard had already drifted off and Meadow wasn't far behind, her head dropping down every few seconds then slowly moving back up. By the third time it had happen, Meadow had fallen asleep.

Mikey, on the other hand, was wide awake and couldn't bring himself to fall asleep. Looking at the screen, he realised The Lion King was playing.

"Scar! Brother, brother help me."

The familiar scene played before Mikey, reminding him of the times where he and Gerard would sit in front of the tv, both wrapped up in blankets and watch the same movie. As Mufasa fell to his death, Mikey heard someone sniffle beside him and looked down to see Meadow wiping her eyes.

"Hey, I thought you were asleep?" Mikey asked quietly.

"No, I'm just good at pretending," Meadow shrugged and wiped her eyes.

"Do you, err, need a tissue?"

Meadow laughed quietly, "no, I'm okay. This part just always gets me you know?"

Mikey simply hummed in agreement and hesitantly wrapped an arm around Meadow, unsure to how she would react. Much to his relief, she shuffled a bit closer and rested her head on his shoulder and resumed to watch the movie, the night dragging on in eternal bliss.
