~ Morning ~

Looking at that strange thing really gave pressure to Kayla. Especially when the two bars in the bottom were in solid bright blood red color and the third bar from the bottom was blinking. Whatever that man did, he really did a very good job because Kayla was not only feeling the pressure but she started freaking out. Since this morning she had a nickname for that thing, the doomsday shard. She even dreamed of throwing it to the ocean and let that thing swallowed by a shark.

"Hey, will you leave early today?" asked Bonny, shaking her chair.

For whatever reason, Sheyla's desk was not close to them but closer to Peter's room. There were only four persons in marketing, Peter, Sheyla, Bonny and herself as it was still a small but slowly growing company, which was the reason Sheyla was accepted and maybe a few more in the coming months. There was a bit of rumor spreading around the office about the desk arrangement. Some even commented that Sheyla acted more like Peter's secretary or personal assistant instead of a junior brand manager, but as usual, Kayla didn't really pay attention to it. She was glad that there were only her and Bonny in this area; that helped her in doing her job better and they could talk freely.

"Hey. You look strange lately." Bonny shook her chair harder.

"Sorry, what did you ask?" She asked without facing him.

"Are you leaving early today?"

After thinking for a while, Kayla nodded. "Yes. I will go back to my hometown with 06:30 pm flight. Haven't packed up and told Peter, yet. Anything you need from me, you have to let me know before ten, so I can prioritize it."

"I am hungry. Let's grab something before we get back to work."

"Well, I am not." Kayla kept on typing something until Bonny turned her chair around. "Bonny, I need to finish a lot of things," protested her.

He grabbed her hand, dragging her to lift. "I don't care. Now, let's go."

She knew that there was no other option but following him to the only coffee shop, a small one, just below their office, on the lobby floor. It was pretty empty, only some seats were taken.

"So what's up? Don't tell me it's the sky, old joke."

"But that's your joke, not even mine."

"Don't switch the topic."

"I don't." She tapped her plastic cup several times then pushed the paper plate on the table to his front. "You eat this."

"I ordered that for you."

"Didn't ask you to."

"Hey, stop being so annoying." Bonny snapped her. "Now, what's wrong?"

"Nothing is wrong. I told you I have a lot of things to do and I have to leave early to catch my flight. Which part of it that you don't understand that you have to drag me here?" She ran her fingers through her hair, ignoring his glare. "I guess I am just a bit nervous about going back home."

Bonny started biting his almond croissant. "You have a problem with your family?"

"Not at all. Everything is good. But...." She paused and went silent for a moment. "By the way."

"Yes?"

"I want to do bungee jumping." The idea just came out of nowhere. Maybe she remembered that Bonny did it once.

"Kayla, focus!"

Kayla tore her pumpkin seed bread into 2 pieces. "I am. I am afraid of height. It's time to conquer my fear."
