~ Morning ~
Kayla didn't want to look, but she pulled the scarf anyway. Yes, the five below bars were bright blood red now. Didn't even bother to cover it with the scarf anymore, she just left her apartment. The rain fell since early morning. She knew because she was awake at around 04:00 am after dreaming of falling down from a very high place, and then she just laid on her bed, not really sure of what to do. She tried reading a book but her mind was out of place, so she finally got up and went to her small living room, just stood by the window, watching the rain fell, letting some thoughts came and go into her mind, until the alarm in her phone made a very noisy sound at 05:30 am.
She decided to leave her apartment earlier. After a quick shower and put simple makeup; just mascara, face powder, blush on and lipgloss; she walked on the sidewalk to the bus stop. It was a lovely day with cool wind. She loved when it rained at night or early morning because the weather always seemed nicer for the rest of the day. The smell of coffee and freshly baked bread tickled her smelling sense. She always wanted to try the coffee in that small coffee shop near the bus stop, but she was usually too lazy to queue. And this morning she did the same thing, just stood and blended among the crowd who waited for their buses in the bus stop. Not too crowded yet, as it was still early. Fifteen minutes later she sat on the bus that would take her to the center area of the city, where all major businesses took place.
She put her bag and the salad dressing jar wrapped in plastic into her lowest drawer. Without saying any word, she just sat and turned her laptop on. The office was still empty, perfect to start her working day.
"Well, hello, good morning, hi." Bonny who just arrived almost an hour later, moved his chair next to Kayla's. "You're so early today or is it Kayla's reflection that I see?"
"Hi Bon," said Kayla without moving her eyes off of the screen. She was not really in the mood to talk.
"How was thing? Did you enjoy your first bungee jumping? But most importantly, did you enjoy your time with Martin?"
Kayla sighed and finally turned her body, facing him. "Bon, I am not in the mood to talk right now."
"Wait, what happened? Did Martin do something to you?
Kayla shook her head. "No, no. He is okay, in fact, we are going to meet up again tonight."
"Yes! I knew it!"
With confusion clearly written on her face, she looked at Bonny but not saying anything.
"My friend, the one that I wanted to introduce you to? That's Martin." He smiled triumphantly.
Kayla began to smile. "Oh okay. Well, yeah, I had a good time with him. Thanks for that."
"You're welcome. Where are you going tonight?"
"He hasn't sent me the name and location of the place, so I have no clue. By the way." She faced her laptop again. "Ready for the morning meeting? Damn, I can't find my files. Ugh, I don't really like this weekly meeting," she grumbled with a very low voice. A thumping sound on her table made her glancing over to her right. There were two sachets of candy and she quickly grabbed those.
"You were right, FunChew just launched two new flavors. Here, try this." He shoved a torn green sachet with a melon picture.
Kayla picked one candy from the sachet. Melon flavor. Never her favorite, but the taste was quite good. She chewed it slowly. The texture was nice, not too sticky, but chewy.
"No supporting ads so far, but those started to be available in grocery stores with some point of sales in the shelf. I went to three different grocery store chains on Saturday. I thought you should know. Will send you some pictures I took."
