~ Morning ~

With no appetite, Kayla bit her tuna and egg sandwich. The meeting was over more than an hour ago and after that she had no desire to work, which led her to a small coffee shop, one block away from her office building. The boss was not in a very good mood and listening to his nag drained her out. Too early for lunch, too late for breakfast, she just had a sandwich and an orange juice and spent a bit of time to browse the internet, again, with no result.

That thing on her bookshelf stole her mind since she left her apartment because the lowest bar stopped blinking and changed into a permanent bright blood red color. In exchange, the second bar from below blinked nonstop. Knowing that it was useless to move it, she just covered it with one of her thick scarves so she didn't have to see it. She started to strongly believe that her days were almost over.

Her phone rang. Bonny. She had no energy to pick it up and sent a rejection text instead, 'Yes?'.

'Where are you?'

'Somewhere. Any emergency?'

'Not really. Peter noticed that you are not here, though.'

'Oh, he's back.'

'Yup.'

'Tell him he doesn't need to babysit us. We all are adults. Anyway, I will be back around 2.'

'Hmm... bad day?'

'Not really. Gtg.'

No more reply.

She searched for the flight schedule for her back-to-home plan on Friday. The cost was pretty expensive, considering it was only one day left but she was lucky to still get a ticket. She chose to go back to this Metropolitan city by Sunday noon time. She shook her head looking at the total cost, but money wouldn't be the issue anymore, as she could not bring her money to heaven, well, maybe it would be hell for her.

After booking all the flights, she continued her search for that unfortunate event. Still nothing she found which made her wonder. Her search was disturbed by the alarm on her phone, a meeting with R&D team, which she completely forgot. She thought of inviting R&D team to have the meeting in this coffee shop, but she wanted to go somewhere after the meeting so she needed to finish the meeting as soon as possible. It would be faster if she was the one who went back to the office. Quickly but with hesitation, she left the coffee shop and went back to her office.

~ Noon ~

Kayla stood in front of a building. The tall entrance front door was half opened. She only came to this kind of building once or twice a year on two big days only. Although she was not sure coming here was a brilliant idea, still, she walked inside the building. No people and dim lights. A big cross and a medium-sized altar were placed in the center front area. Some candles were burning in Saint Mary's corner. No other sound but her footsteps. She took a seat in the last row, right side. She just sat there in silence with monkeys jumping around in her head, throwing so many whys. She didn't come to pray, she came to ease her mind and look for some answers, but she was not sure she would get those. Hell, she was not even sure why she came here. She would feel like a hypocrite who came and prayed only when she needed help and answers. But she was never a big believer of God and any religion. If she was the God, she definitely wouldn't be answering any of her own prayers.

"Come here to pray?"

A very deep yet gentle voice surprised her and made her turned her head. An old man with no hair was standing next to her. He gave a very kind smile that matched with his kind dark green eyes, which gave a calming effect to his interlocutor. "Oh not really. Just... dropping by."
