A successful day in the office was the first of many, we had arrived side by side, not offering any type of explanation to any prying stares. Rio had gotten exactly what he'd asked for, somehow I knew that there wouldn't be any way he'd lose our arguments. We'd also spent an entire workday and an unnecessary amount of money on installing a door between our offices, Rio insisting that simply walking out of his office and next door to mine was far too much work.

Our first week went on a treat and I definitely deserved a medal for what I've put up with, Rio's incessant nagging feeling like I was working with my boyfriend rather than a co-worker, it was truly exhausting. That left me here in my office, one of the last in the office on a Friday afternoon, the way it had been for years. I gave out a sigh as I placed the last of the week's paperwork in its rightful place, Rio's company had only increased the number of documents I had to read and sign but I was grateful that in return he handled the more gritty parts of my job that I'd rather not have to handle. He was more than happy to follow up on late payments and dodgy dealers, he and my team made for quite the intimidating group, it also put the two of us on the underground map of who not to fuck with.

"Ready to go?" I almost jumped out of my skin at the sound of his confident voice from our conjoining doorway.

"Jesus Christ I thought you left an hour ago," I responded turning to face him. "What are you still doing here?" I question, leaning against my desk, his lips pursed slightly, almost upset.

"Damn sweetheart I'm wounded." He replies cryptically and my head tilts slightly.

"Am I missing something?" I ask getting more confused.

"We made plans darlin." He raised his eyebrows expectantly and all of a sudden it clicked in my head.

"Of course, the movies! I'm so sorry it must have slipped my mind." He looked slightly upset so I tried my chances cheering him up. "Man I have this new co-worker and he is a real piece of work, it's so hard to concentrate. You should meet him, I think you'd get along great." I joked and his lips quirked into a half smile. Close enough.

"He sounds like a catch, you should hook up with him." His smirk grew as I rolled my eyes playfully. "So we rescheduling or?" His hands retreated to his pockets as he maintained eye contact. I was so beyond exhausted but the borderline hopeful look on his face convinced me to push through it.

"No, no, no! Give me a sec to grab my things." He nodded, leaving his office, turning the lights off, I followed suit soon after, meeting him at the elevator. "So do you wanna grab something to eat before the movie? I actually forgot to eat today so I'm starving." The elevator dinged open and I quickly turned off the lights of the whole office, the entire top three floors have already gone for the day, of course, I had my emergency team on call but their regular jobs were finished for the week.

"Darlin you gotta eat through the day no wonder you look like you're bout to pass the fuck out." He tilted my chin to lock our eyes and I just laughed lightly, shaking my head.

"Time just slipped by I guess." I try to explain but he shakes his head.

"From now on we gotta make sure you eat through the day, can't have your hungry ass effecting business." I slapped him on the shoulder playfully and chuckled, looking away.

"Whatever mum." I tease and he just shakes his head, before he could retaliate the doors opened to the actual mall level. It was still bustling with people, a number of my venues holding Friday night parties they were surprisingly good money makers not that it made much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. "Where do you want to eat?" As we walked through the mall we came across the restaurant quarter, staring at the abundance of options.
