"Will they do it?" I say, face timing with Calum.
He gives an energetic nod, and I smile.
"I miss you guys so much."
"We miss you to."
There was a silence between us, and I looked around the house.
"See you in three days Cal. Love you, bye."
"Love you to Aves. Bye."
I smile at the ridiculous nickname he has given me as I turn off my iPhone.
I head upstairs, and start to pack.

"Ashton?" I call out, tears welling up in my eyes. "Ashton!" I sound more desperate.
I hear the thundering of my brothers footsteps running down the steps.
A smiles forces it's way on my face, but I can't help it. My brother's happiness us contagious.
He wraps me in a hug so tight I'm sure it's cutting off circulation.
"Avery...what's a matter?"
"School." I whimper.
"Aw Ave. it'll be alright."
I push myself away from him. "You don't understand Ash!"
His eyebrows furrow. " I do. You feel helpless, like everyone at school hates you, students,
teachers-everyone." He pauses. "And you have this work piled up, and you have so
much stress you feel like your going to crack underneath all the pressure."
I nod, bursting into full on panic mode. "What do I do Ashton?"
"Let me help you. We'll figure this out. Together, even if it takes all night, or all week."
I smile up at him. He always knew the right thing to say.
***
He always was there for me.
He was just a call away, or a room away.
But he would always end up making me feel better.
So now, when I glance at his empty room, or I get sent to voicemail...
It's then when I feel more helpless than ever before.
You never know how lucky you are to have something until it disappears.
