Two hours later, we were all piled in the car, ready to go the airport.
"So we're flying to England, and we're going to meet up with One Direction while we're there." Calum states, flipping a map around.
"Okay. Where are we staying?" I ask, buckling my seatbelt in.
"At One Direction's flat." Michael butted in from the backseat.
He sits next to Luke, Calum's next to me in the passenger seat, me in the drivers seat.
"Alright.'let's go."
Backing out of the parking lot, I pull onto the street, and we're off.
Ashton, here we come.
*
A knock startles me awake.
Falling off the couch in surprise, I let out a groan.
The knocking continues.
Pulling up my flannel sweats, i pulled my hair up into a messy bun as I walked to the door.
"Holding on!" I scream.
Unlocking and opening the door, Luke staggers in.
He's shaking, drenched by the rain outside.
"Luke?" I question. "Ashton isn't home. No one is but me actually."
The look on his face is so upsetting, I shut the door, biting my lip.
He doesn't bother to answer as he shakes his hair out, still shaking.
"Here- I'll go get you a dry change of clothes and a blanket. Come with me."
After Luke is all dry, we sit on the couch with some snacks.
"Luke, what's wrong?" I ask.
He doesn't meet my eyes.
"I had to break up with my girlfriend. And she...she wasn't hurt. She already was interested in someone else." His voice shakes, and I know he's trying not to cry.
"You had to?" I question.
"The tour Avery! I didn't want her to get hurt or anything." He mumbles.
He shoves his face into his hands, body shaking with sobs.
"Oh luke," I sigh, pulling him into a hug. "She didn't deserve you anyway. You deserve someone who will give you the world. You're such a sweet person Lukey, she just wasn't the one."
His arms slowly wrap around me, unsure at first.
"Luke, I'm 16. You can hug me." I laugh.
Luke's arms slide me closer to him, and I lean into him.
I pull back so I can look at his face.
"Are you okay?" I ask him, our eyes locking.
He smirked. "Getting better."
I roll my eyes, and his eyes flicker down to my lips.
I remember what Ashton said.
Stay away from them.
I turn my head slightly, breaking the spell.
Luke's arm loosened, and I pulled out of his grasp.
"Do you want to stay here for tonight?"
Luke nodded.
"Okay. Is it alright for you to sleep on the couch? Or do you want Ashton's bed?"
"I'll just sleep here." Luke said, patting the couch and awkwardly shifting away from me.
Biting my lip, I nodded grabbing the remote and turning the television on.
Luke stares at me, before swallowing hard. "Your shirts see through."
I laugh. "I realize Luke. You like my bra?"
He blushed, turning his head away. "You just look cute."
"Well thank you." I flash him a quick grin. "But don't let Ashton hear you say that."
*
I remember that night.
We fell asleep on the couch together, me on one side, him on the other.
I felt so guilty, for disobeying Ashton.
I couldn't deny what was happening,
I was starting to not want to stay away.
I wanted to be better friends with Luke, Calum, and Michael.
Ashton never knew how Luke came in the middle of night.
How we stayed up late, eating pizza and sweets, watching TV and movies.
And he'll never know.
*
"Avery? We're here." Michael shakes me awake.
I groan. "We're where?"
"At the airport."
"Ugh. Stupid airport waking me up."
"You wanted to find your brother."
I swat at his arm, sending him a glare.
Michael shrugs, handing me my black backpack and suitcase.
"Thanks." I say. "Now let's go."
