KAHOKO'S POV
***
"Kaho-chan, I wish you good luck for tomorrow." Mio-chan hugs me and I hug her back.
"Arigatou gozaimasu, Mio." I chuckle as we walk with my two bestfriends down the lane.
"Oi, Mio. Is that everything you have got to say?" Nao-chan teases and I look at Mio who claps her hands. Mio quickly grabs my hands and stares straight into my eyes.
"Kaho-chan, I have the strongest feeling that the violin romance has started and this trip to Gendou Island will do nothing but strengthen the story!" Mio-chan sings and I try to get her to quiet it down as others look at us.
"What are you talking about Mio. Hehehe..." I laugh nervously as I try to shake them off.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about Kaho-chan." Mio raises her finger infront of me. "This violin romance is as real as the sun in the morning and the stars in the evening."
"There you go, going all poetic again." Nao-chan laughs but Mio continues on with her rant.
"It takes two to do a violin duet, no? So then, this story has two protagonists. Hino is the female violinist. But who do we know is the male counterpart?" Mio looks at me and I, oddly, find myself thinking.
"Male...counterpart?" I repeat and Nao also starts thinking.
"One who has a good ear for music." She adds and names are popping into my mind. Shimizu-kun?
"One who is a gentleman. We can't have someone who doesn't know how to handle a girl, especially Kaho-chan." Mio suggests. Ano...Yunoki-senpai? Waaaaaah?! My face turns red but I erase the thought. Impossible...
"And also, one who has this radiance about him." Nao nods and I think of Hihara-senpai who is always beaming in happiness.
"Don't forget someone who can protect our precious Kaho-chan." My mind is drifting to someone who can protect me...Eh? Tsuchiura-kun?
"And he must be a violinist of course!" Nao and Mio chorus.
"Eh? Violinist?" I repeat and the person in my mind changes and soon, I see....
Tsukimori-kun? My heart beats so fast that I swear my face was cherry-red.
"Oh it's perfect! Being in the island of musical love! Oh wow! It's as if the fairy of music himself came to bless you this story!" Mio dances around and although I try to hide myself from them, I can't help but get interested when she mentions the island's myth.
"Oi Mio-chan! Hehehe...Tsukimori-kun and I are only acquiantances, nothing more. Hehehe..." I try to put on a straight face. "Besides, what's this thing about the island's myth?" I try to deviate the topic.
"Wait, you haven't heard of that beore Kaho-chan?" Mio asks and I quickly nod. "Really? It's a very famous myth. It goes by -"
"Mio! Kaho! The sweet shop down there is having a sale! Let's try it out!" Nao calls out and Mio suddenly squeels in joy.
"Really?! Let's go Kaho-chan!" She grabs my hand and drags me to the store.
Sigh. Close call.

"In the end, Mio never told me about the myth." I sigh as I walk towards my house. In my hand, I'm holding a bag of sweets and chocolates, in the other is my violin case. I look up at the sky and see the stars.
"This violin romance is as real as the sun in the morning and the stars in the evening."
Thinking about that..I remember...
Tsukimori-kun.
I feel my face flush and I shake my head violently.
"Eh?! Tsukimori-kun and me? Tch...Impossible! How could anyone entertain such a thought." I talk to myself and remember yesterday's event where he arrogantly shooed me out of the practice room. "Tch...He could've told me that he would borrow the room. But then again, if he'd say it politely..." I try to imagine Tsukimori-kun saying it nicely but then -
"Why doesn't being polite rhyme with him?" I question and find myself smiling. Thinking about Tsukimori-kun I realize that he must be so busy especially with all the expectations of the people around him.
But Tsukimori-kun has been so kind to me. It was his music that touched me at first.
Ave Maria.
I remember it so well. It was so pretty.
"Meow."
I look down and see a fat stray cat look at me. I pat it on the had and realize that I had reached the park. Although it was kind of scary to be alone in the night, the silence was so tempting. As if it was calling me to break it.
"I guess one song won't hurt, right?" I say as I caress the cat which yawns. I take my violin from its case and in the silence of the night, I play the song which started it all.
Ave Maria.
SNAP!
"Who's there?!" I stop as I hear a twig snap behind me and I see the bushes rustle. Soon, my whole body is trembling and I quickly put my violin in the case and leave.

SOMEBODY'S POV
**
It was kind of another uneventful night and so I decide to take a stroll. I listen to music in my earphones and see the stars in the sky.
Pretty.
I shake my head and grunt. The first time I heard that word was...
I take my earphone out and continue to walk around. I pass by a convenience store and see a little kid hurriedly entered into it. I stick my hands into my pocket and take a sharp turn towards the park. It's kind of lonely in here but the solitude of things makes my head calm.
I think of a lot of things.
The future.
The music.
And...her.
Suddenly, my body stiffens as I hear a tune.
Ave Maria?!
I get up and make my way towards the sound. I hide behind a tree and listen. The gentle and definite notes made by the violin, the skill and level...
That's right. It is pretty.
"Meow." I open my eyes and see a fat stray cat brushing itself against my leg. I shoo it away in annoyance but I accidentally, step on a twig.
SNAP!
"Who's there?!" The performer calls out and I hurriedly run away.
I arrive at home and lie on my bed. And once again, I've rediscovered the meaning of 'pretty'.
