"A Dragon" both Jennifer and Mr. Hart gasp in disbelief. Anger and fear fills Jennifer's face while nothing but fear in the eyes of the students. The dragon looks at me and I stare back at it and it reaches out to me a touches my chest with it's talon, and the Dragon is sucked into my body and I start to feel better, I stand up and feel the power flowing through me.
"Careful now, you just gained a lot of magic power and it is currently working its way through your entire body. Come with me and I'll teach you a few null spells and cantrips."
I take a step forward and the concrete beneath me cracks.
"Um sir. I don't think I should take another step"
"Oh dear" he reaches in his pocket and pulls out some string the whispers into it and hands it to me "here tie this to your finger, sould start sucking your mana out and into the air"
A soon as I tie the knot Jennifer starts gasping for air.
"Sorry Jennifer, but why don't you go to class" Mr. Hart gently pushes her to the door "and Andrew you can follow me now."
I take a step and smile now that the ground doesn't crack under the pressure and follow the teacher inside. The hallway walls are colored a yellow white as if to tell people just how old the school is. We come to his office and he hands me a small childrens book with a picture of a little boy with wisps coming out of his hands.
"Really, a child's book"
"unfortunately yes, that is how we teach kids how to control their magic" he sighs "Oh and while we are on the subject, here is a null spell book, I will teach you cantrips tomorrow as for now you need to get home and start reading that kids book I gave you. I expect to see you first thing tomorrow morning in class 109, now off you go." he pushes me out the door. My god is everyone just trying to get rid of me.
When I get home my mom is standing there at the door with expecting eyes, I just walk past her.
"Well what did you get? Come on, you got tell me."
"Oh, just like you told me how there is magic and how your a well known magic user around here." I start yelling "A girl tried to kill me today for that book you gave me, what was that anyway?"
"That was my research on multiple different types of spells and creatures, like a field guide of sorts." she says as if its not important.
"It must have been a big deal if I almost died because of it, a come to think of it when would you have been able to work on that you barely leave the house at all so how would you even be able to do any of that?" I rudely question her.
"Who says I did it alone?"
"You mean dad knows about this too!"
"Yes he knows, but he can't use magic so he researched the creatures for me when ever he when on a trip, now quit beating around the bush and tell me what you are"
I sigh at my mother and her annoying habits. "I'm a dragon"
She stares at me "come on tell me what you really are" wow such faith you have in your child.
"I'm a dragon mom" she smiles and walks away and digs in her purse for her phone.
"Hello, Anthony, yeah my son refuses to tell me the truth of what creature he got, can you tell me... ah huh, okay thank you very much" she hangs up the phone and sets it on the table, then walks to the living room, grabs a pillow, and screams into it.
"Mom are you okay" I ask. She plasters a smile on her face and looks at me.
"Never better. Why do you ask?"
"You know what, never mind" I grab the null spell book and head down stairs to my room.
The only thing I see in there are boxes upon boxes of clothes and an empty bed.
"ugh, I don't want to read this" I groan to myself as I flop on the bed "what are null spells anyway?" I open the book to see if there was an explanation.
The very existence of null spells are to enhance or amplify ones' power or ability.
So like a reinforcement for your body or does it unlock certain parts of the brain to push past normal limits of the body? I guess there is only one way to find out how it works.
I read further into the old book and find something like chants or what the book calls word chains that produce the effects and that there is a way to cast a spell with out it as long as you can visualize the effects of the spell in your head, that doesn't sound too hard but first I need to read the KIDS BOOK.
Why couldn't just teach me right then and there how to control my magic instead of being a lazy prick and giving me a childs learning book. I go back upstairs and find my sister sitting on a chair, just staring at the wall.
"Andrew, my whole way of logic has just been turned upside down, and I don't know what to do?" she keeps staring at the wall as if it was going to solve her problem.
"Yeah, join the club, I almost got killed by a girl with a very bad temper."
"Why did mom and dad not tell us about something this big, I got cans thrown at me just for not knowing how to make one float." she just keeps sitting and panicking, I'll have to give her the kids book a little later.
Back in my room I open the demeaning book and read every simple minded, hate filled, four worded sentence in that seven page book and then threw the book from hell out the door.
