The patrol from the FlameClan set back home too. Grayleg still couldn't believe what he had. I am the one who was supposed to make peace. At least in the camp everything went peaceful. Most of the warriors celebrated their victory, only Grayleg hided himself in the very corner of the warrior den.
Dawnsun came in and mewed: "What happened?" She set down right next to her friend. Urgently the brown spotted she-cat looked at the gray tom. With a sigh Grayleg started talking: "There was this StormClan warrior, s-she wont flee, whatever I would have done..." he couldn't continue and starred in a corner of the den. "You killed her, haven't you?" Dawnsun asked carefully as she lovingly nudged Grayleg with a paw. In tear drowned voice he answered: "Yes, what else should I have done?" With a calm voice Dawnsun replied: "You did everything right.", she was interrupted. "NO! I am a monster! I didn't had to kill her!" Grayleg yelled at Dawnsun.
Gorsestripe seemed to heard Grayleg screaming, and he stood at the entrance of the den. "What is going on here?" he asked shrilly. After another moment the deputy seemed to realize what he had missed. Because he sat down next to the two other cats. Seriously he mewed: "Grayleg, you're everything but a monster! You've saved the life of our Leader! You did what a warrior had to do, and you should be out there and celebrate with the others." Shortly he looked up with his glassy eyes, and then laid his head back down on his paws. With her tail Dawnsun gave sign to Gorsestripe, that they should leave. As she stepped outside she mewed: "I see, you need some rest."
Oh StarClan, please tell me how am I supposed to save my clan. What does that prophecy mean? Grayleg whispered to himself. After he said that he closed his eyes and fell into a restless sleep full of incomprehensible and confusing dreams, but none of them had to do with the prophecy.
At the next morning Grayleg wake up because of a soft hit with a paw. Sleepily, he opened his ice blue eyes. Iceclaw, the brown and black warrior, had roused him a bit rude. "W-what!?" he stuttered. "Its already sunhigh, you have to get up!" the young warrior answered. Behind his clanmate Grayleg tottered onto the clearing. Gorsestripe came to them. He mewed: "I need cats for the patrol at the StormClan border, are you two ready?" Grayleg, who already was a bit more awake, answered: "If o get to eat something before we go, with pleasure." The golden tom agreed, and Grayleg quickly ate a vole. After he buried the remands, the three cats started there patrol.
Iceclaw asked: "Why have the patrols been split up? We could easily mark the borders at the BrookClan- border too, couldn't we?" The deputy answered: "After that what had happened yesterday, Meadowstar ordered that we should make an extra patrol. Nobody knows when they're going to attack again." They almost renewed all the markings, as Grayleg tipped his ears. Hastily he checked the air. Indeed, a StormClan patrol had crossed the border.
Quickly he sprinted to the invader. As the smell of StormClan overwhelmed them Grayleg smelled something else..., it was Beechfall! Iceclaw yelled from a bush nearby: "These are kids!" the brown and black furred stated in alarm. No sight of Beechfall, that's strange... Grayleg whispered to himself. Friendly Gorsestripe asked the kids: "Who are you?" One of the gray little cats replied: "I am Gullkit and this is my brother Pewitkit!" "And who brought you here?" Grayleg asked. Pewitkit answered: "We just wanted to explore the Territory, but then we got lost!" Gorsestripe replied to the kits: "You are on FlameClan territory now."
Just as in the moment Gorsestripe wanted to introduce himself, they heard cats approaching. With his tail he signalized his companions to hide. Grayleg rushed onto a flat, but overgrown tree. The approaching cat doesn't seem to notice the. From a branch the dark brown spots of Beechfall were clearly visible, she might were looking for her kits. As she was standing in front of Gorsestripes hiding place, the golden tom jumped on the back of the she-cat, and pinned her down.
"What, in the name of StarClan, are you doing on this side of the border?" he hissed at her. Frightened she stuttered: "T-that's a great misunderstanding! I'm looking for my kits, they ran away!" "You mean these?" Iceclaw asked as he stepped back so, Beechfall could see them. Grayleg still haven't jumped down the branch, but Gorsestripe waved him down. As the gray tom jumped down, the eyes of Beechfall widened with astonishment. As Iceclaw gave the kits free, they jumped to their mother happily. "I swear, I didn't want to enter your territory!" Beechfall told the FlameClan cats. "You will tell Meadowstar about that! You're coming to our camp, all of you!" Gorsestripe mewed harsh as his golden pelt laid felt again
