Dawnsun has retired in the warriors den with a piece of fresh-kill. Tired from a patrol she enjoyed the sun, which was shining through the holes in the roof, on her gray and brown spotted fur. She listened to the daily bustle, outside on the clearing. But from one heartbeat to the other the clan fell silent. Carefully she checked the air, but she couldn't find any strange smells. With careful steps she got out of the den. The entire clan gathered there already. With much effort she pushed her way through the crowd, so she could see what had happened in the center of the clearing. Meadowstar came out of his den, too. The blue eyes of the leader widened as he saw what happened in the center of his clan.

Dawnsun released her eyes from her leader, and looked back to the center of the camp. Together with Gorsestripe and Iceclaw two other cats came in. "G- Grayleg..." Dawnsun stammered. "Who is this flea-pelt?" a warrior next to her mewed scornfully while he nodded to the strange, one-eyed cat. Meadowstar provided a deep meow for calm. The leader stepped forward, he studied the stranger thoroughly. But before Meadowstar could say anything, Grayleg stepped in front of the stray.

"He is not an invader!" Grayleg began. Meadowstar stared at the shaggy brown tom, perplexed. "He is part of a prophecy!" the gray tom continued. "A prophecy?" Meadowstar asked as he found his voice again. "Yes, the forest is threatened by a danger. An army of strays is going to take over all of the clans territories." Grayleg answered so that everyone could hear him. The cat next to Dawnsun sneered: "This mouse-brain believes everything you tell him, doesn't he?" "And has this stranger to do with the clans?" the leader asked calm. He stubbornly resisted the piercing gaze of his leader. Before Meadowstar could continue, Grayleg took the floor: "StarClan had led us to him!" Murmurs became loud in the clan. Meadowstar calmed his clan down again, as it was silent enough he turned around to the two cats. "Well well, for now he is allowed to stay here." the old gray tom mewed. With slow steps Meadowstar went back inside his den, he signalized the stray to come with him.

Gradually, the clan dispersed again. Dawnsun ran over to Grayleg. She ran wildly purring past Grayleg with her fur, both looked into the eyes of each other intensely. "I was so worried about you!" broke out of the brown spotted warrior. "Me too..." the gray tom sighted.

"Four became five, they are bringing the peace. Together you will survive." Blackwing repeated those words over and over again. He closed his eyes and saw the five little cat shapes out of his dream again. Then the realization had hit him like a thunderstorm. Quickly he stood up out of his nest, in the medicine cat den. With high standing tail he marched over to the leader's den. Out of which the stray just came out. Meadowstar seemed like he already had noticed his young medicine cat coming. "Do you remember Shorttail's prophecy?" he started off directly. The clan leader nodded. "Now I know what it means!" Blackwing continued. Both the cats sat down in front of each other, Meadowstar showed him that he should continue. Blackwing toke a deep breath and mewed: "Four became five, that means that this stray is one of the chosen ones StarClan had selected." For a short time Blackwing waited for a reaction of his leader, but Meadowstar did not said anything. So Blackwing continued: "Also Shorttail said that we will survive together. That means that all the clans need to fight together, to fight back this army of strays." Blackwing's heart felt like it were bursting, as calm as he could be he waited for an answer of his leader.

"I thank you Blackwing, but Oscar told me the exact same thing just before you came." Meadowstar was interrupted: "Os... car?" asked Blackwing. "That stray, who had accompanied Grayleg." Meadowstar continued: "He told me about this army of strays, too." Quickly the old gray tom told how Oscar was mangled by these cats. And how this could happen to all the other clans too. "At the next gathering I will talk about this with the other leaders." Meadowstar ended. With a respectful nod Blackwing left the den of his leader.

Once again the night of the gathering had come, Gorsestripe already gathered all the cats at the entrance of the camp, only Meadowstar was missing. But a little bit later the clanleader came out of his den, too. At a fast pace he led his patrol to the promontory, Grayleg already as excited to see the companions of the journey again. A few taillengths away from the clearing the clan stopped for a moment. As Meadowstar gave the sign quickly stepped on the clearing, where the BrookClan already had arrived.

With big eyes Grayleg looked for Riverpaw, in a group of warriors he finally saw her tabby gray fur. A little of his clanmates Grayleg sad down. Both shortly nodded to each other. Only a few moments later both MountainClan and StormClan arrived. To the astonishment of many, Redstar wasn't with them. Flintwhisker, his deputy, jumped onto the branch where normally the leaders stood. He silenced the crowd and mewed: "Redstar cant be here because of an illness. I will represent him!" As he had ended his sentence, he jumped off fir and went to the other leaders.

Firstly Slatestar talked to the clans, but the leader of the MountainClan told nothing relevant. He thanked StarClan that Sprucefur has arrived safe and sound from the journey, and warned the other clans about dogs, which had been spotted on there territory. In one elegant leap the old gray tom jumped back down. Next, Flintwhisker who represented Redstar, was allowed to speak. He also told the clans that Beechfall came back to her clan safe, too. In StormClan nothing had happened while Grayleg's abstinence.

As StormClan's deputy had ended, he made room for Limestar, BrookClan's leader. Elegant the white she-cat jumped onto a branch of the fir. She raised her voice: "Of course I thank StarClan that they had led our lost warrior back to her home. I am pleased to bring another good news. Riverpaw, who had gone with the other three cats, had received her warrior name. From now one she will be called Rivershine!" As the tradition demanded, all the cats yelled Rivershine's new name three times. While this happened Grayleg could not take his off her. Afterwards, Limestar had nothing exciting to tell.

After that Meadowstar jumped onto the tree, his gray pelt seemed to shine in the moonlight. He told about the clans about the return of Grayleg, too. Then he spook further: "However, another cat came with Grayleg. A stray, just like our medicine cats he told us about a danger that threatens our forest." All eyes were now fixed on Blackwing. Meadowstar continued unflustered: "They warned us about an army of strays, who want to take over the forest." Meadowstar made room on the branch, and called Oscar to himself. The one-eyed brown tom jumped up to the clanleader clumsy. He told the clans the story who and why he got mangled by the strays like this. The BrookClan and MountainClan cats listened tight to him, while most of StormClan warriors turned away uninterested. Oscar ended his speech: "To prevent that they do the same thing to you as the did with my and friends, you have to work together. Or else... each of you will fall."

The other leaders and Flintwhisker jumped up to Meadowstar and Oscar. Slatestar started taking first: "If it is true what this cat told us, we will definitely participate!" After the old gray tom had ended he looked at the stray again, searchingly. Limestar raised her voice: "If an unavoidable fight is coming, my warriors and I will be available!" It was Flintwhiskers turn to talk to the clans, with a sight he started talking: "This is mousebrained! You believe everything a runaway stray tells you?" Limestar interrupted StormClan's deputy: "Flintwhisker remember, you are only the deputy! Redstar will determine, not you!" He only snorted contemptuously as answer, silently he led his clanmates back in there territory. Only Beechfall hesitated shortly, but then followed her clanmates reluctantly. Because none of the remaining cats had to say anything else the gathering was dissolved. Meadowstar led his patrol back to the camp.
