"Its has been days since I am bear the smell of this thunderpath! Where could that twolegplace possibly be that you saw?" asked Riverpaw. "No one knows, but it cant be far!" Grayleg sight at the top of the group. In the last nights he were visited by the shadow cat over and over again. He now knew where they should go, to a twolegplace. They just have to follow a really broad thunderpath, that would lead them to there destination.
The day was coming to an end so the four chosen cats found a shelter to spend the night. "There at the hill we will find a place!" while the tortoiseshell tom was running up a mound, the others followed behind. "Look over there, we definitely sleep there." mewed Beechfall. The gray and brown spotted cat pointed at a half open twolegnest in which hay was located. "Are you sure? It looks like the are storing there fresh-kill there." Riverpaw doubted. "We should give it a look." mewed Sprucefur who already was running over to the twoleg-thing. Arrived at the wood construction Beechfall sniffed everything carefully. "Do you smell Twolegs?" Grayleg asked nervously. "No, but I can smell deer." the she-cat answered. Sprucefur replied: "Perhaps Twolegs has built this thing." "Why should they?" Grayleg asked in return. "Maybe to attract the deer!" Sprucefur suggested. Beechfall shook her head and mewed: "Does anyone understand them?"
After they all had built provisionally nests, Grayleg and Sprucefur were hunting again. Riverpaw and Beechfall rested while the toms were hunting. As the all had ate the curled up in their nests, and tried to sleep. Grayleg looked up into the sky, he couldn't see the stars, but he still was praying to his ancestors to bring to their destination.
Grayleg was awakened by raindrops that were dripping on his whiskers, his fur was wet and stuck to him. Quickly he scrambled to his feet and shook the water out of his fur. It felt like his heart had stopped as he recognized a smell, that wasn't one of the other cats. The he saw steps in wet slush. He struggled to see something in the foggy environment, but he couldn't see anything. Sleepily Sprucefur grumbled: "Did you wake us up, because of the rain?" Beechfall softly kicked her brother in the flank with a paw.
Grayleg stepped over to the traces. "No, another cat came across here. As I woke up I could smell it!" Grayleg answered harshly. "Was it the shadow cat from your dreams?" Riverpaw asked. Grayleg followed the traces with his eyes until the were lost in the fog. Without looking at the others he mewed: "Maybe, we've got to follow them." Where does they us lead to?" Beechfall asked skeptical. "Probably to the twolegplace." Grayleg replied the gray and brown she-cat.
As all of them were ready they started of, the fog gradually cleared. In a short distance away from the thunderpath and the river, they followed the traces. The followed them half of the day between the river and the thunderpath, as the suddenly saw the silhouette of a twolegplace on the horizon. "It has to be there!" yelled Riverpaw excited. "Is this the place from your dream?" asked Beechfall. Grayleg nodded shortly. "Now... we only have to find what this dangerous is..." Sprucefur sighted.
Slatestar, Limestar and Redstar came into the camp of FlameClan, each of them with a patrol of their clan. Many warrior instinctively unsheathed their claws. "And Meadowstar is wondering why they know our territory so well, as often as Redstar was here recently..." a warrior whispered into the ear of another one. Dawnsun kicked him in the side and hissed: "It's also about Grayleg, isn't it?" she couldn't end her talk 'cause Limestar raised her voice. The white cat mewed: "We could not find any traces of the lost cats on one of our territories." Slatestar, the old leader of the MountainClan, talked next: "Did any of the medicine cats had the chance to talk to StarClan?" with his green eyes he glared at the cats who were sitting next to him.
"Yes, I have!" Lavendersong, the medicine cat from the BrookClan stood up with a swollen breast. Without looking at the other cats the dark striped tom mewed: "In my last dream I saw four cats, walking along a thunderpath." Where did they go?" Limestar asked directly after her clanmate had ended. "I-i don't know." he answered hesitantly. "There's only one thunderpath in this forest, and it is on territory of the StormClan. But there aren't hinds we could find." replied Redstar. Slatestar interfered: "Wrong, just recently we explored the river down stream, and we had found one. But should they have went there? Its almost a day of traveling till there." Lavendersong talked to the crowd of cats: "And really no one has an idea where they possibly could've went?" Dawnsun were getting hot under her pelt, she remembered the prophecy again. "Four will save you. Peace will come and war go away." the words echoed in her head again. But I have promised him not to tell anyone! Quickly she shook the thoughts out of her head again. She mustered her courage, and stepped forward. All of the eyes were now faced at her.
The brown spotted she-cat raised her voice: "More than a moon ago, Grayleg and I were out hunting. There... a... cat from StarClan met us." Murmuring went through the crowd. As Dawnsun could hear herself again she talked further: "It told us, four will save you. Peace will come and war go away. After that it was gone. I think Grayleg and the others are gone because of that, they are the four who will save us." Relief and shame went over her equally, but she knew she made the right decision.
Meadowstar was the first to find words again: "Why haven't you told us about this sooner?" the gray tom asked with huge eyes. "I promised him not to tell anyone, before he disappeared. He told me that no matter what happens I wont tell any cat." mewed Dawnsun, while she forced herself to look into Meadowstars eyes.
Redstar stood snorting and yelled: "StormClan, come with me we're bringing our warrior back!" The red and brown tom were stopped by Slatestar. The old leader of the MountainClan turned Redstar on harshly: "Do you have bees in your brain? They were chosen by StarClan to save us! And you will take the chosen ones back!?" Redstar glared at Slatestar and mewed: "Its a funny coincidence that just two FlameClan knew about a prophecy, isn't it? How should I know that they don't think this all up?" "You don't even believe that yourself, do you?" Limestar objected. Meadowstar continued for her: "This is just another story you tell your warriors to attack us, isn't it?" Redstar snorted contemptuously and then left the camp with his clanmates. The other look behind them 'till they were swallowed by the shadows.
