I forgot to mention this in Harry's backstory but he's living in New York during present time.

In the past: flashback to high school.

I sat in my room, studying for this final we had in two days. I huffed, swiveling in my chair back and forth as I contemplated how to answer this essay question. I almost didn't even hear the doorbell ring, and the voices downstairs.

I surely didn't hear Harry bursting into my room until I saw him out of the corner of my eye either.

But when I did I smiled uncertainly, watching as he slowly pulled out an envelope from behind him. I widened my eyes as I recognized it.

This had to be Harvard. But I asked him anyways.

"Harry," I said, "what's the matter, you look anxious."

He said nothing but waved the paper in his hands again. I knew my suspicions were correct and I squealed and jumped up and down.

"Okay, so what did it say?"

"I haven't checked it yet, I wanted to open it with you."

I smiled and jumped on my bed and crossed my legs, "well come on then! Open it!"

He beamed at me and sat on the bed next to me, ripping open the envelope and slowly pulling out the letter. He gazed at it for moments before he took a couple of deep breaths and began to read.

"I got in!" he cheered, jumping up. I got up and proceeded to jump and cheer with him, genuinely excited for his entry. I crashed into his body and laughed, embracing him tightly as he spun me around.

"You got in!"

"I got in!"

"Now all I have to do is wait for my acceptance letter from Lesley, and I'll follow you there!"

He smiled brightly at me and wrapped me in his arms before he leaned forward and planted a soft kiss on my nose.

"Can't wait," he mumbled. I smiled and rested my head on his shoulder.

I sat at my dinner table with my mom as we ate our dinner. We kept glancing at each other, squinting to see who would eat the quickest and get the last piece of fried chicken.

As usual, it was my mother. I chuckled as I watched her stare at me while she triumphantly at the last drumstick. She finished her food and I followed shortly after, putting both of our plates into the sink before sitting back down at the table.

"Harry got into Harvard, mom!" I smiled. She nodded and smiled brightly.

"I gave him a big hug before he left," she replied, "we should do something to celebrate. It's not every day your daughter and her boyfriend get into very good universities."

"Yeah well, he's incredibly - wait..." I stopped my sentence and looked at her.

"You mean?"

She looked at me mischievously and stood up before walking over to our counter and handing me an envelope. It was from Lesley.

"This could be a rejection letter you know," I said, watching her as she sat down.

"With your grades, I doubt that, sweetie. Now open it!"

With shaky hands, I managed to tear open the envelope and pull out the letter.

This must be how Harry felt.

"Read it!"

I nodded and began to skim through the letter until I found the sentence I was looking for.
