I watched as Luke cried and broke down as they called a Code Blue on Kizzy. I hurriedly shoved her back into her body and the monitors began to calm down. The response team left the room and I stood over her. The monitors calmed down and I let out a breath that I did not realize that I was holding. I walked out of the room and found myself in the hospice. I heard a loud beeping sound and walked towards the sound. I found this woman, laying in a bed.
She didn't look as weak as I thought she would have. Her scalp was covered with a dark green beanie. Her eyes were slowly closing and there was no response team rushing in. I looked over her chart and saw that she had signed a DNR order. She didn't want to be resusitated. I didn't blame the poor girl, fighting pancreatic cancer had to have been pretty tough. After looking over it more, I saw that she was only twenty-three years old and had no current family. When the monitor made a long beeping noise, I touched her hand as a nurse came into the room.
She felt for a pulse and then switched off the machine. She gave a heavy sigh and left us in peace. I leaned down and kissed the girl's forehead. She slipped out of her body and into my arms. Her spirit was too weak to move, it wouldn't surprise me if it disintegrated in my arms. I took a deep breath and my wings withdrew themselves. I winced in pain from the fall earlier and soared into the air. I had to get to the Pearly Gates. The train at Limbo Station would be too slow. I held onto her and broke through the dark night to the sparkling gates. I landed on a white cloud, rushing towards the gates.
I spotted an angel on her perch and she swooped down. She glared at me but then her expression softened when she saw the weak soul in my arms. She glanced from me to her. "Cancer," I said quickly. "Please heal her." The angel nodded her head and carefully took her. I watched as the angel kissed her head and with a burst of light, the girl's soul was healed. She blinked her hazel eyes as she gaped at me and the angel.
"Am I dead?" she asked weakly. The angel gave her a sad smile.
"Sadly, my child, you are. Welcome to Heaven," she greeted. I froze, staring at the angel. Her voice was like beautiful music. She helped the girl to her feet and she gestured towards me. "Thank this wonderful...girl? For bringing you here." I withdrew my hood and looked between the both of them. The girl stared at me as she slowly made her way towards me.
"That isn't necessary," I said. The girl just stared and she came to stand a mere foot away from me. "You don't have to thank me. I didn't heal you." The girl lunged at me, throwing her arms around me tightly. I was surprised by her strength and wrapped my arms around her. She stepped back and took the angel's hand, walking away. I descended back to earth and saw that the nurse hadn't returned yet. I stared down at the poor girl's weak face. 'I never got her name,' I realized. I walked closer to her body and took her hand. Taking a deep breath, I was absorbed into her body. Her eyes, or rather MY eyes, fluttered open as I slowly sat up.
The nurse came in and screamed bloody murder. She fainted and several doctors came running in. They all gaped at me and I parted my dry lips. "It's okay," I said in my possessive voice. The doctors' eyes grew wide as they fell under my spell and they slowly began to nod their heads. "You will discharge me immediately." They all rushed out to get the proper forms. They all came back in, and I was free to go. Apparently my name was Samantha James. I got dressed in a cute summer dress and slipped on some black flats.
I hurried out towards the room where Kizzy was sleeping and turned into the room.
My eyes connected with Luke's right off the bat. I froze, unsure of what I was suppose to say. I turned and ran out as fast as I could.
