==>Be the English kid who's stressing out.

You stand in front of the bathroom mirror. You look tired and worried. Grandma was extremely ill, and there was nothing the doctors could do. She was old, yes you know this, but you still didn't want to lose her.  You hadn't slept in two days, and of course, Dirk was almost always with you, along with Jane and Roxy. You graduated two weeks ago, third of your class.

Dirk walks in and over to you, wrapping his arms around you from behind "You should eat something Jake" he  whispered, frowning at you. You nod, and turn to him. "Jake I know how hard this is for you...and I'm gonna be with you every step of the way. I love you." Dirk said, kissing your forehead. "I love you too Dirk. And I was just about to get something to eat." You say. You knew you'd probably have Dirk drive back to the hospital where Gran was for you and you take a nap in the passengers seat.

If Gran was gone you lost your whole childhood. If she died you'd lose your Wendy to your Peter Pan. 'My little Lost-Boy' as she called you when you were little.  She was Grandma Wendy to you sometimes, and you were Peter (Without the romance of course). Your phone then buzzes and you answer it:

"Hello?"

"Mr.English?"

"Yes, that's me"

"We'd like it if you could come to the hospital ICU immeadietly. Your grandmother...she wont make it another night I'm afraid.."

"Wh-What?- Nevermind, I'm on my way."

"Alright. See you soon then Sir."

The woman then hung up and you scramble out of Dirks arms and run downstairs, grabbing your keys and running outside to your car and hopping, Dirk ran out to the car and got in. "Jake what the hell?!" Dirk looked at you as you started the car. "Gran- She-She.." You trail off and pull out of the driveway, heading over to the hospital.

You tried explaining to Dirk as you drove but just couldn't do it. You try to stay calm as you park and get out of the car. You wait for Dirk then lock it, running inside and to Grandma's room.

"Grandma..?" you say softly, walking over to her bed and sitting down next to her in a chair. "Hello Jakey.." she said quietly. You look at her and just break down into tears.

"Boy...why are you crying..?" she asked. You looked at her and smiled sadly and sniffled "B-Because my shadow won't stick..". This was not a time to be quoting Peter Pan, and it's not poetic, it's just sad.

Gran took your hand and squeezed it. "Jake..promise me..you'll...get over me..? Promise me you'll have a good life..". You nod "I will. I promise Gran I promise." You cry harder, looking at her. "I love you Jake..my little Lost-Boy..".

"Gran..Gran I love you too. Don't leave...please.." You look up at the monitor as the steady beep turned into a loud irritating buzz. "Gran? Grandma no. No no no no no...".

Dirk walked in and you look at him for a moment before he's next to you and holding you as your body becomes wrecked with sobs you can't control. "No..no no no no no Dirk she's sh-she's.." You were cut off by more tears and Dirk  held you close and cradled you. Two nurses ran in and looked around. They walke dup to the machine and turned them off after checking them "Time of death; 4:13 A.M" one of them said in a hushed tone as you hid your face in Dirks shoulder. "Sshh Jakey it's okay baby.. I got you. It's okay." He whispered to you and you try to collect yourself and stop crying like a child.

==> Jake: Question a reason to get out of bed.

It's been four days. Four days since she was just... gone. You've been in bed for two days, and Dirk is clearly worried sick. He was cooking breakfast at the moment, and you were just laying in bed, curled up and hiding in a way.

A few minutes later Dirk walks in and sets a plate of food down on the night table and lays downs next to you. "Hey Jake.." He whispered to you and you look over at him. "Hi.." you mumble and scoot closer to him. Dirk kisses your head and gladly holds you. "How you feeling baby?" Dirk asked, "You hungry?".

You hid you face in the crook of Dirks neck and brush you lips over his neck. "Meh. And yeah a bit" You mutter, still feeling weak and alone even though Dirk was holding you protectively.

"We'll get through this Jake. I promise." Dirk assured you as he sat up and pulled you into his lap as he reached over to grab the plate of toast, eggs, and bacon for you. You lean back against him and take the plate, slowly starting to eat.

"Thanks Dirk, for breakfast, and staying with me through this.." You say to him as he kissed your cheek. "Welcome Jake." he replied, shifting a bit.

You finish eating and set the plate down. Dirk looks at you "We should do something.".

"Like wha--" Dirk then lays you down and lays next to you. "Cuddles and a movie sound good? Pick what you wanna do." Dirk said sitting up against the headboard of your new bed in the apartment you recently moved in to.

One bathroom, three bedrooms. One bedroom for the both of you, one for a workshop for Dirk and his bots and then a spare room you have yet to put furniture in, if someone was to walk in there right now all they'd see was a cardboard cutout of Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft staring back at you.

You nod at Dirks suggestion, grabbing the remote and turning on the tv, flipping to Netflix and going through your list. You stop on "The Fifth Element" a rather enjoyable 1997 study movie with Mila Jovovich, Bruce Willis, and that one guy who played Sirius Black in Harry Potter.

You press play and wait for it to start. You lay your head in Dirks lap and sigh contently. Maybe it really was going to get better.
