When I got there that day, she was gone.
Kelsey's face was red and wet, and her eyes were bloodshot. Zoey was yelling at Alana, and Alana was yelling back. Emily had shrunk back into the shadows, trying to avoid Alana's wrath. I just looked on in horror. Basically we were in complete chaos, all because of one girl. How could one girl do that? I didn't know.
I hadn't heard what happened yet, but it was pretty obvious. Alana was enraged by the 'situation', and she had gotten drunk and came to the meeting place. None of us had come, but she must have. Then Alana, in all her drunkedness, had done something to scare her off. Alana probably felt good about it, and Jamie, the poor girl, cried for na hour or more. It was obvious.
Alana had slapped Zoey, and the sound rang out throughout the room. Everyone's head had turned their way, and I could plainly see that Zoey's face had turned a terrible shade of bright red.
Suddenly something snapped inside me, like a rubber band too tightly coiled. How dare she? How DARE she!
"Stop!" I yelled," We're going to Mrs. Rose!"
I expected someone to put up a fight but I managed to make everyone agree somehow.
The ride there was awkward and long. It was sunny as always, but for some reason it felt like it was dumping buckets. In all of those cheesy disney channel movies, it was always raining when the bad things happened. I mean, there's a 50% chance of both, right? So why do they always make it so it's rainy on all the bad days?
Mrs. Rose could tell we were agigtated from the moment she opened the door. She got that motherly look on her face and quietly ushered us around the house. Then she brought out the lemonade and some brownies and waited for us to speak.
We all started talking at once.
Mrs.Rose raised her hands to silent us. We shut up.
"Where is my dear Jamie today?" she asked.
I was hopping mad. So of course, I answered in a loud, angry ton eof voice whilst staring daggers at Alana.
"Alana here got drunk and scared her off. Apparently our lovely leader here couldn't handle the truth or the fact that Jamie is going to find out eventually. No, no, no, she had to go and drink instead. And the worst part is, I don't think Jamie's coming back this time."
Mrs. Rose didn't ridicule me Alana for drinking or me for getting mad at her. Instead, she uttered one, simple, terrible word.
"Why?"
For some reason, in that moment, that word was the most powreful word in the universe. Only three letters, and yet it trumped disestablishmentarianism in power.
No one spoke.
"Why do you want her back so much? Why is it, exactly, that you functioned perfectly before her and now you can't survive without her? Why do you want her back? Why, why, why?
I swear Mrs. Rose can be another Aristotle sometimes.
Alana spoke. Softly, quietly, unlike the cocky, bitter Alana I had come to know and tolerate.
"Because we, well, we love her," she said, meek as a mouse.
"I love her too, Alana, my dear. We all do. But love is something that we must keep close by, cultivating it and not letting it slip through our fingers. Because when it's gone it's gone. Now Jamie has come to me and told me that she feels you are too harsh on her. And it's true, the love you share is almost gone. But there is one more thing you can do. And that is to tell the truth."
Alana looked torn. And for a moment, I thought I saw a real person in Alana. But then her face flickered and was replaced by her usual stony face.
"I can't," she moaned.
"Why not?" Mrs. Rose asked, with a smirk on her face.
"Because!" Alana yelled. Then she pulled out of her chair, threw her napkin on the ground, and stormed out, fuming. Kelsey pulled out of her chair with an all be right back and chased her. I don't know where she went but I do know that they didn't come back.
Mrs. Rose looked insanely calm. Poised, even. I weondered how she stayed that way whith all this craziness happening. Didn't she ever get stressed?
"Well, aren't you going to do anything?" the ever boisterous Zoey asked.
"No."
"Well, why not?" Zoey seemed to be in a state of disbelief.
"I can't stop the wind from blowing. I can't stop the rain from pouring. I can't stop the boys and girls from falling in love. In fact, it would make things worse if I even tried. And just like all these things, I can't stop Alana from running. So why would I even try? It would just make me more stressed and her angrier."
Zoey shut her mouth. But I didn't.
"So what should we do?" I asked.
"Nothing. It's her choice, my dear. You can be there for support, maybe. But you can't tell her secret for her."
I had nothing to say. Mrs. Rose just smiled at me, and despite it all, I smiled back.

Hi y'all! So I have a lot of stuff to go over in this Author's Note. So let's get started!
Okay, next thing. So I have the cast figured out except for three characters: Alana, Zoey, and Mrs. Rose. So please comment on who that should be!
And I'm super excited because this story is almost at 500 reads! So please help me to get there! It would be awesome!
Another thing is that I edited Chapter Two of Redo and it's WAY better now. Just saying.
Finally, it's Faaaallllllll! YYYYAAAAAAAAASSSSSSS! in honor of fall I've been listening to Owl City a lot which is weird because most of his songs are summery. But anyway, my current favorite from him is Beautiful Times, which I put on the side. :)
Okay, I think that's it! Remember to vote, comment, and follow!
' Love Ya!
