Mckenzie drove into my driveway, honking the horn. "C'mon Alice! We don't have all night!" She screamed.
I grabbed a pair of leather boots and raced out the door. "Sorry! Just running a bit late!"
When I got into the car I slid my shoes on and buckled my belt. I waited for Mckenzie to quickly reverse out of the driveway and jerk down the street. She was always such a bad driver.
"So who's this boy?" Mckenzie asked once we got onto the main road.
I shrugged, "His name's Ash, well Ashton."
Before I could continue Mckenzie interrupted, "Ooo! You already have a nickname for him!"
I rolled my eyes, "I think everyone calls him that Kenz. Anyway he's the older brother to a little boy in my class."
Mckenzie nodded, "That's sweet, he picks his little brother up from school." She then became serious, "But, the only important question is is he hot?"
Mckenzie was always looking for boys. If there were any males in a room I guarantee that Mckenzie would be talking to them.
I wasn't sure how to answer the question. I hadn't really even taken his looks into consideration. "You can tell me when we get there." I concluded.
The diner was already packed with teens. Mckenzie and I found a booth in the middle of the diner that had a nice view of were the boys were setting up. "That's Ash." I said while pointing to him. He was helping another boy carry a drum kit into the room.
"A drummer!" She exclaimed then squinted her eyes. "Yeah, he's defiantly hot." I laughed and slightly shook my head.
As we waited for them to begin I ordered a milkshake and slowly sipped on it. When Ashton saw me a smile grew across his face. He waved and whispered something to a band mate. The band member nodded and Ashton ran to our booth.
"Alice!" He exclaimed when he sat next to me. "I'm so glad you're here! It's gonna be a great show tonight!"
"I hope, but remember I don't really care about your crappy band, I only care about the food." I smiled smugly.
Ashton pretended to pout, "You aren't my best friend anymore."
"Fair enough." I replied nonchalantly, which was not the reaction Ashton wanted.
Before he could reply a tall boy with blond quiffed hair yelled, "Ash! Almost time to start!"
A surprised hug was given before Ashton ran back to the stage. I cheered when the blond boy spoke. "Good evening everyone! We've got a great show for you tonight!" A round of applause made him stop speaking, "I'm Luke, the lead vocalist." He then pointed to a boy with dark brown hair and dark skin. "This is Calum, our bassist, and no he's not Asian." Everyone laughed. Next Luke introduced Ashton, who sat behind a massive drum kit. I cheered just a bit louder than everyone else, making Ash give me a beaming smile. The fourth member had crazy spiked hair that was dyed a white-purple, "This is Michael, our guitarist. He's a piece of shit, I don't really like him." Michael laughed and wrapped his arms around Luke, forcing Luke to hold him up.
"Well, without further a do our first song is Don't Stop." Luke said before the boys began to play and soon sing.
It was a great song that I stomped my foot to. Everyone held there hands up and bounced to the beat. Mckenzie leaned over the table and whispered, "I call dibs on Luke." when the song was over. I laughed and nodded.
They went into another song. One that sang about Amnesia and then another about turning 18. I lost track of how many shows they played as I enjoyed myself.
"Thank you so much!" Luke panted after they finished a song, "We're just going to take a quick water break. We'll be back in five."
The boys left the stage and disappeared into a room next to it. I slipped out of the booth and knocked on the door. "Come in!" Someone yelled before opening the door. The boy with purple hair greeted me, Michael. "Oh, you're Ashton's friend, right?"
I nodded, "Sort of, can I talk to him?"
"Sure," he led me into the room. A few couches sat around a small table. Luke laid across one of the couches. His long legs fell over the edge, I had never seen nicer legs than girls before him. He waved to me, but didn't get up.
Calum was so busy tuning his bass that he didn't even look up. I didn't mind though. I hated awkward introductions.
Ashton jumped up from the second couch. As he hugged me his sweat drenched me. "Ew!" I squealed, "Ash, you're all sweaty and gross!"
"What's it to ya?" Ashton laughed evilly.
I shook my head, "I just wanted to come in and say; Damn you guys are good!"
Ashton cheered, "I knew you'd like our music!" He fist pumped the air.
"Okay, so I'm just gonna go now." I said awkwardly as the boys began to jump around in a huddle.
"See you out there Alice!" Ashton yelled through the boys bodies. I nodded, even though he wouldn't see me.
When I sat they returned, pumped like crazy. They rocked out to more up beat songs. Their music was very different, rock with a pop flare. I loved it.
As they finished their encore the music faded and everyone screamed. I stood up, jumping to the sound of the claps.
Ashton began to push through the thick crowd of people surrounding them to get to the table Mckenzie and I sat at. The rest of the band followed him. When he came the crowd had surrounded the booth, "Let's go." Ashton screamed over the crowd. I nodded and stood. Before I followed Ashton I grabbed Mackenzie's hand, making sure I wouldn't loose her.
We went back to the room they took a break in. After the crowd died down and we could talk normally I said, "So, I'm assuming you're a bit popular here."
Ashton laughed, "No, we suck."
"I can tell. You guys have no fans, it's actually quite sad." I replied.
Michael began to run around the room, screaming "WE'RE THE BEST PUNK ROCK BAND IN THE WORLD!"
"You're not punk rock Michael." Luke said. He had his arms folded in front of a shirt I couldn't read. His long legs separated widely, but he still managed to be taller than all of us.
"Shut your damn mouth! I can be anything I want to be!" Michael screamed. I held in a laugh.
Ashton turned away from me to yell at Michael. "Hey don't swear!" He yelled cutely.
"Fuck you, I can swear if I wanna, because I'm punk rock!" Michael stormed out of the room even though it was all a joke.
Luke held the bridge of his nose with his thumb and index finger, "I hate this band." He muttered while shaking his head.
"But you love us." Calum said, bumping his shoulder into Luke's.
"Think what you want Cal." Luke laughed. As he did I noticed a ring on the left side of his bottom lip.
They both left the room in search for Michael. I was grateful that Mckenzie was their if there would be any awkward conversation, but she let me down. She ran out of the room to chase Luke, hoping to make a move on him.
Ashton pushed his hands into his pockets. He smiled a crooked half smile. "I'm so glad you came, did you honestly like it?"
"Of course I did Ash! It was amazing, no wonder you boys are so popular!" I made him blush, his grin growing to a toothed smile.
He sighed. "I'm excited for our next gig. There have been rumors of some managers and record labels and stuff that might get us higher up."
"That's great Ashton!" I exclaimed.
Ashton shrugged. "I know it is, I love this band. But, I just don't want to leave Harry and my sisters. I'm really all Harry's got that's close to a Dad. It would be hard on him if I had to leave."
