Hiccup heard a roar and looked up from freeing Toothless, and saw Grimmel on the Light Fury. Angered, he got onto Toothless and the duo flew towards where Grimmel was. Hiccup leapt off of Toothless and activated his flight suit. He looked at Toothless to make sure he was fine and turned back to see Grimmel shooting something. A searing pain hit Hiccup in the neck and he saw Toothless get shot as well. Just as his world started to go black, he heard Astrid scream his name and saw Toothless get caught by a Deathgripper. And that was the last thing he heard before he blacked out.
Astrid watched in agony as the love of her life got hit with a sleep dart and saw Toothless get shot with one as well. The dragons held back as that was the last order their alpha had given them and she watched as Grimmel made the Light Fury swoop down and grab Hiccup before they flew off. She dropped to her knees but still felt her bond with Hiccup going strong, indicating he was still alive. As her knees hit the soft, lush, green grass she let it out, she cried. Tears flushed down her cheeks as she wept onto Stormfly who had her head bowed at the loss of her friend and alpha. "Astrid, we'll get him back, we will get him, Toothless and his female friend back." Astrid looked up to see Gobber and the gang looking at her. She nodded and grabbed her axe. Grimmel had asked for war by taking Hiccup, and war is what she was going to give him.
