What is Stress?

According to Google, the noun means pressure or tension exerted on a material object and the verb means a particular emphasis or importance to (a point, statement or idea) made in speech and writing.

Synonyms of stress.
Emphasize, underline, underscore, highlight, spotlight, foreground, accentuate and belabour.

Main causes of stress.

Does stress kill?
"There are a number of ways chronic stress can kill you," says Aldwin. That includes increased levels of cortisol, often referred to as the stress hormone. Elevated cortisol levels interfere with learning and memory, lower immune function and bone density, and increase blood pressure, cholesterol and heart disease.

Signs stress is killing you:
•Increased heart rate.
•Sweating.
•Pressure in chest.
•Shallow breathing.
•Increased body temperature.
•Low energy.
•Clammy hands.
•Feeling down or depressed.
•Repetitive thoughts about one topic.
•Feeling hopeless.
•Increased irritability or short temperateness.
•Increased substance used.
