A lot had happened in the last few weeks. One, Taehyung started to come around, and even took Jennie out to go eat.

They went to some of the classics; like the pizza shop which had been the 'new' thing back in sixth grade. But, she hadn't expected that Taehyung also had in mind something else.

They went to her grandmother's place. Jennie hadn't visited the woman in a while, so Taehyung watched her cling onto the woman like a child. Her sudden silence showed that she was trying not to cry.

He was well aware that Jennie didn't have it easy as a kid, though he didn't know the full details because the brunette never talked about it, Taehyung understood that it's what made her so close to her grandmother.

That's like how he had been with his father.

Her grandmother had been happy when she found out that Taehyung and her were back together again.

"He's a good boy," Jennie remembered her saying. "He's not perfect, but he's a good boy."

They were all sitting in the living room now; Taejung was fast asleep which his head resting on his mother's lap, while Taehee was on her phone.

Jihyun was talking with Taehyung.

"So, has Baekhyun tried anything on you lately?"

Her son scoffed. "Mom, you think I'd let him touch me?"

"Of course I know you wouldn't, but he's smart. He'll find his way around to hurt you."

"He hasn't. And I don't plan on letting him." It was funny how that lie slipped out so easily, as if Baekhyun really hadn't hurt him yet.

Not just physically, also emotionally. People didn't need to know what he was going through, then that made him weak. That he couldn't deal with his own problems on his own.

Because he could. He had this whole entire time, why couldn't he now?

To reassure her, Taehyung smiled.

Jennie didn't believe the look in his eyes, they seemed far away and distant. He was lying.

But by how much? The thought that Baekhyun had even tried anything made Jennie's blood boil. Not just the fact that she cared about Taehyung, but how could someone turn on a person whom they practically considered their brother for almost their whole life?

The idea was just pure bullshit.

Taehee heard the doorbell ring, then got up to go answer it. Jennie cracked at one her knuckles absentmindedly.

"What was life like when you were the old medic, Jihyun?"

"Pretty eventful." The woman smiled, remembering the old days. "God, it was so fun too, in a weird way. I enjoyed leading your father on."
