this little portion is a flashback to a few hours earlier :)
She didn't know what to say, what to even think. When Taehyung's car approached familiar sights, Jennie couldn't ignore her tingling sense of anticipation.Kim Taehyung's younger siblings, actually fraternal twins; Kim Taehee and Kim Taejung. Though Taejung was slightly older by a few minutes, Taehee was far smarter than her twin brother. Jennie had grown up walking to their elementary school, and walking them back to Taehyung's house with him.
She remembered back in high school, around senior year, she used to help them, especially Taejung with their homework assignments. The boy claimed Taehyung was an awful teacher and he'd always yell at him for thinking stupidly, but Taehyung was probably the one who helped Jennie best when it came to math.
Maybe he just acted differently when comparing his younger brother to her. But Jennie knew better than anyone else that Taehyung was probably the best older sibling anyone could ask for.
"How often do you visit them?" She had questioned when he pulled up to a familiar sight. Jennie sucked in a small breath, wallowing in the glory of the old place. Everything about it just felt like it hadn't changed at all. Taehyung's house.
"Not as often as I want to." He had finally answered. "But they'll all be surprised to see you. I didn't tell them I was coming. Or that I was bringing you with me."
"I remember your mom used to tease you about bringing a girl home." Jennie joked. "Looks like it's finally happening."
The corner's of his lips lifted when he stared at Jennie. Despite being in front of the one place he had restrained the urge to run to whenever something wasn't going right, which had happened many times, he couldn't now.
Taehyung tried not to think about it, otherwise the thought would make him go absolutely insane, but Jennie was so pretty. Beautiful was an understatement.
"Yeah, I guess so." He mumbled, and her head jerked in his direction almost immediately. Jennie blinked twice, noticing the man's eyes already on her. Was he being serious?
Did she want him to mean it? No? Yes?
"We should go inside." The brunette finally whispered, moving her hand away from the spot next to his. Forcing herself to move away, she cleared her throat. "When exactly was the last time you visited?"
He was silent. "Last year."
"Taehyung!"
There was a loud laugh, he held his hands up in defense. "Chill on me, I don't have the most free job in the world."
"You could at least make time for your siblings—"
"Shut it." He had whispered near her ear suddenly, and she obliged almost instantly, Jennie's breath hitched. Smirking to himself, Taehyung unbuckled his seatbelt and promptly got out of the car.
"God, get a grip Jennie. You're not twelve!" She reprimanded to herself in irritation, before sighing. Jennie begrudgingly got out of the car in her own time, then padded up the front porch steps.
"Took you long enough. Seemed like you were giving yourself a pep talk over there."
Jennie gawked, shooting him a glare. She grabbed a fistful of Taehyung's shirt, tugging him down to her height. His smirk did nothing but fuel her irritation.
"You know what, you little—"
"Taehyung?"
Now she sat next to Taehyung in the familiar living room. His mother was exactly the same, still looked gorgeous except for a few silver strands hiding beneath her long black ponytail.
Kim Jihyun, words could not describe how much the woman had impacted Jennie's life as a child. Of course, when she was always at Taehyung's house how could she not become close with her?
How could anyone not like Kim Jihyun?
"Taehyung, I didn't expect you to be around today of all days." She reprimanded. "You could've notified me."
"Mom, it's not that big of a deal. I do that all the time."
"No you don't." Taehee, his younger sister, seethed. "You don't even stop by."
Jennie tried not to snort, but ultimately failed. He shot her a glare, but Taehee grinned upon seeing the older girl smile.
"Maybe not, but I wouldn't say you bring a girl here every time you visit do you?"
"Yes, but it's literally Jennie!"
"So what?"
"I grew up with her? Her house is like two minutes away from here?"
Jihyun rolled her eyes, turning to Jennie. "I need to call your grandmother. Are you going to visit her?"
The brunette glanced at Taehyung warily, who didn't say anything. "Maybe."
"Maybe?" The older woman arched a brow, eyeing the two young adults. "Why do I have a feeling you aren't here to visit?"
"We aren't." He sighed, then leaned over to his mother's ear. "I'll explain it to you later."
"Hyung, what are you doing here—"
Jennie turned upon the new voice. It was Taejung, the younger brother. He was also Taehee's twin. The two of them looked much more grown up, it made her insides soften.
"Noona?" He mumbled, hand leaving the staircase railing, lips gaped. Taehyung peered over, eyeing his brother's expression, then scowled.
"Wow, great to see you too, I guess."
Taehee snorted aloud. Jennie wasn't aware, but Taejung had always had the hugest crush on Jennie. It was just one of the cliche things, and Taejung just happened to have a thing for older girls...even one who was seven years older.
Taehyung unfortunately, hadn't been completely blind to his brother's feelings and always got slightly peeved by the thought.
"Oh, sorry." The younger apologized, sitting down next to Taehee. "I'm surprised, that's all. Didn't you two break up a long time ago?"
"We aren't together!" Jennie defended immediately. Jihyun arched a brow, choosing not to say a word.
"I'm just the medic for his uh, whatever Taehyung does."
"They know about Bangtan." Taehyung aired. Jennie averted her eyes, embarrassed.
"Unnie, I'm so glad you visited. There's so many places I think we should go see. Like they renovated the shopping complex now and they even have this cool ice cream shop. I know it's winter, but it tastes really good. And I was also thinking—"
"I think Jennie should keep a low profile while she's here." Taehyung interrupted, Jennie frowned at his sudden hostility.
"And that's the end of the conversation."
"But—"
"Taehee. There's things you don't know that you shouldn't, and for your good I think it's best you don't and that also means Jennie doesn't go out."
"Go out?" Jennie narrowed her eyes. "So what? I'm just a prisoner here?"
"That's not what I'm saying!"
"Then what is it? You can't tell your sister what's going on, you can't tell me...what the hell?"
"Jennie—"
"Whatever." She sat up promptly, throwing open the front door and slamming it behind her. Taejung frowned in concern.
"Hyung she wouldn't—"
"I know she won't leave." He mumbled. "Whatever. I need coffee."
