I take the last shirt out of the last box and put it on the last hanger in the closet. Usually Hiccup is unpacked and studying before I bring my last boxed inside. The only difference from when we unpacked last year was the different location of the key bowl and coat rack. To me, those little details were enough to let me know that Hiccup had already been here but he only wanted me to know that.
After I folded up the boxes and tied them together to put in the closet, I grabbed my wallet and keys along with my phone. Hiccup told me that when school started again, he was going to spend a day in the court yard with Astrid.
See, Hiccup is a minute-by-minute planner, if they don't know what's happening, they almost loose it.
Before going to the courtyard, I figured I should go ask a few of my friends if they knew where they were. I knew that Eugene had already unpacked because we have practice tomorrow and I asked everyone if they could be ready with good sleep behind them tomorrow at noon. We still had two days until the official first day of school, but I always like to see if there are any newbies.
Eugene boards on the same floor as me, twelve doors down. In between us are Rapunzel and Astrid with Anna in the room connected. Anna is a year younger than us, but we took her under our wing because of Kristoff. Eugene and Kristoff don't board together, only because they can sometimes go head-to-head over the littlest of things.
I walked ten doors down when I heard my phone ringing. Astrid's contact picture came up so I decided to answer it. "Hi Astrid what's up?"
I heard a faint voice answer but it was too dull to hear. I waited before I got a definite answer. "Jack?!? We need your help. The dragons aren't listening to us again. They ignore our commands and sooner or later they'll just fly away and leave us stranded. Can you help us Jack?"
And with that, the otherside went quite for another minute. The emptiness was filled with background screams of fighting and with that, I yelled into the phone, "Where are you!?"
There was no answer, the only response was the disconnected call. A few seconds later, a text came in saying, "Hiccup has dreamed of going here for years, but he was afraid this might happen." Then it hit me. Hiccup didn't want to spend the day with Astrid on the Courtyard, he wanted to go to Lava-Lout Island, but he knew that the Monstrous Nightmare and the Smothering Smokebreath lived there and they could be a huge threat.
For all I knew, Hiccup and Astrid were at a place where dragons could be eating them, or they could be stranded if the dragons left them. I knew my friends were in danger, but I did not know how to save them, or even get to Lava-Lout Island.
I instantly took out my iPhone and searched google for Lava-Lout Island. The only thing I found was it's approximate location. It's right off the coast of Isle of Berk but I've never flown over there before.
Yes. I can fly. My real name is Jackson Overland, but for the past 16 years is my 316 year long life, I have decided to go to school. I don't remember the first 300 years because Mom kept me locked away. I also don't know half of my past life. I know something happened that made me the way I am. I didn't have friends until my first year of school, and even then, most people don't know the real me. Hiccup doesn't even know and he's my best friend. My family has been my only true friend. And even then, my grandfather died when I was 306 and I don't remember grandma. So the only family member I have a connection with is my Mom and Uncle Jake.
Uncle Jake has powers too. He spent 20 years of his life locked away by the government because they thought he was dangerous. But truth is, when they found him at the bank with shattered windows and duffle bags of money laying in the ground, he saved the city from loosing close to a million dollars and took 20 years for it.
He is now used by the government, with more freedom then anyone, to protect and defend our country when we most need it. It seems that he doesn't come home a lot, but the truth is he is always watching over everyone. He has control over every security camera in the country, and with that, he focuses on the ones around me, only to ensure my safety.
Anyways, since nobody knows I can fly and I really don't want people to know, I'll have Uncle Jake take me, since he's into saving people and things. He's also very fast.
I looked up at the hallway security camera and winked twice then cooed like a bird. Before I knew it, the window next to me was open and a tall, muscular man was standing next to me.
"I saw the signal Jack," he mumbled lowly so no one else would here us.
"Perfect!" I said as I lead him to the end of the hall where a door lead to an empty room that only few knew about. I was going to tell him everything, from Mom all the was to the signal and everything in between.
"So, what do I need to know?" Jake asked after I locked us into the closet and pulled the blind down.
"Well, it's a long story..."
