Everyone Has Their Demons (part 1)

Jake's POV

I watched as the brown haired girl practically ran out of the office. I tried calling out to her but she either didn't hear me or just ignored me. Oh well i'll just text her later I thought to my self but was brought back to reality when I heard my name being called. I looked up to see the same women who had previously called Mani's name.

"Well here goes nothing" I say to no one in particular as I get up making my way towards the lady who smiled at me. To be honest it was kind of unsettling but I just shrugged it off.

"Follow me" the woman said with a smile still on my face. I listened and began to walk with her my mind wandering again. My head began to fill with thoughts that slowly turned into questions the main one being why Mani was upset. I started to get upset my self which started to turn into anger towards the lady who seemed to be the cause of Mani's mood change. The lady brought me to a room which I assumed was her office. She told me to sit in the chair on the left side of the room which I did as she sat in her. She looked up at me again and smiled but before she could say anything I spoke up.

"Why was M upset?" I asked my anger obviously present but before she could answer I spoke up again.

"It's about what happened last year isn't it? Thats the whole reason me and her are even here in the first place right." The lady simply smiled before replying.

"Yes and yes" she said pausing before continuing. "And I see you wasete no time on introductions. I'm Ms. Hellen nice to meet you."

"Jake" I replied simply "but im assuming you already knew that."

"Yes I did" she said as her smile dropped slightly.

"Go on ask me about what happened last year i'll gladly tell you." I said glaring at her but she didn't seem to mind.

"Actually this isn't going to be about last year." I looked at her confused before it finally clicked. Ms. Hellen sighed before continuing her smile now gone as she looked at me.

"How's life at home Jake?" She asked the concern evident in her voice but I didn't care about that as the question made me even more mad.

"If I didn't tell M about what's happening at home why would I tell you?"

"Because i'm trying to help you" she stated simply which only seemed to fuel my anger more.

"Well I don't need your 'help' " I said bluntly getting a annoyed look in return but that face was replaced instantly with an emotionless one.

"Fine i'm not going to force you tell me so let's talk about something else. Your friend M as you call her its evident that something is wrong with her." Ms. Hellen said seriousness filling her voice. I looked at her with a serious face of my own.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that I think something happened to her after your encounter with Alice that day. Did she see anyone after that incident?" I thought about her question for a second before finally speaking up.

"Yeah she said she was going to see Alice one day after his arrest...." I my voice trailed off on the last part as it finally clicked.

"You don't think he did anything to her" I asked concern filling my voice.

"I can't say for sure but I think its best if you try to keep the two away from each other." She says looking me dead in the eyes.

"Don't worry I will" I say with a reassuring voice that was mainly meant for me. She smiled.

"Well I think thats where we can end it have a nice day Jake." She said as I just nodded in reply hurrying out the office. The rest of the day went by slow for as I waited for the last bell to ring and when it finally did I practically ran out of the school pulling out my phone to text a certain brunette.

The One and Only Jake: you alright?

I didn't really expect a reply back but when I got one I was ecstatic.

Bestest Girl M: yeah im fine just a little overwhelmed.

I smiled at the text relishing in the feeling that she was alright. We continued to text each other as I walked home. When I finally made it to my house I mentally prepared my self for what was bound to happen. I took a deep breath as I opened the door instantly loosing all the happiness I had previously.
