Chapter 7

-Arden's POV-

As the December breeze hits our bare faces Naomi and I walk around parts of downtown Atlanta. I was back home in Georgia staying with her for a week before Christmas doing extra shopping and catching up on old times. She was my childhood friend, she would come to my house every weekend and we would play with our dolls. Now, I would come back to Georgia to visit her or she would go to California to come visit me whenever she had the time. We've been through it all but I was glad to call her my best friend.

As our heels clack on the pavement me and her rush to get out of the cold and into the warm cafe. Trying to warm ourselves up we order our coffee and find a seat. "Man, I really miss you back here in Georgia. Remember all the shit we got into after graduation?" she laughed. "Yeah those were the days man. Oh, remember that one time I cried during the Paramore set back in '08 at Warped? I was a mess," I laughed. "Yeah... I remember. I was the one rubbing your back while people were staring," she said. "Fuck them, it was overwhelming! They were my favorite band," I explained. We both burst into laughter and everything was like how it use to be.

"That was the same day we saw Pierce the Veil live for the first time," she added. I remembered it so vividly, they were playing at 2:30 and Vic had straight hair. We cringe at the thought of that and another round of laughter come from us and this was the way it was when we were together. "Speaking of Pierce the Veil... how are you and Tony? And that picture you posted a month ago with you and him are so cute!" she said. "Ha-ha thanks, but we've been really good. He's been busy with the guys lately so he doesn’t really have some free time but he slides in time to call me here and there and we talk about our day. What about Sebastian and you?" I asked. "Two years strong man!" she said throwing up a fist. "But he keeps me sane and he understands my problems. Y'know? And he's the definition of loyalty," she explained. "Well you look happy so that’s all that matters," I said. "You too... I be seeing those Instagram pictures. Killin the game!" she shouted. I shook my head and laugh at her making a scene in the quiet café, "Something like that."

"So I was trying to wait until we got home but... Sebastian and me are planning to move to San Diego in the middle of January," she said excitedly. "Fucking finally! This is great man! I think this is a great idea and we wont be apart so much!" I said. "Yeah! And me and Sebastian already found this new loft so we just gotta call them up and do whatever," she cheered.

Back at her place we end up sitting on the couch watching Christmas specials and let the time pass by. "So... Your mom called me the other day," Naomi said. I felt my anger inside of me begin to rise and I just ignored her. "Arden! You have to speak to her," she said. I pay attention to the movie and ignored her once more. "Dude!" she shouted turning the sound down. "What does she want?" I mumbled. "She wants her daughter back and that’s all she wants," she told me. I laughed, "Wow really? Last time I checked I wasn't her child anymore." I looked into her eyes and she gave me this worried looked. "I'm sorry man but I don't want her in my life and that’s final. She might be my mom and I love her but I'm not trying to get hurt from her words again Naomi," I explained. She bites on her bottom lip and nodded her head. She understood how I felt so she didn’t want to push the conversation any further. "You want some wine? Maybe some cookies?" she asked trying to make me feel better. I laughed and nod my head and she went into the kitchen grabbing the wine and cookies.

Getting up from the blow up mattress that laid on the floor next to Naomi's bed I grab my phone to check the time. 11:28 am. I had 2 miss calls and a text that were both from Tony. The message read, "I miss you so much Arden. By the way good morning and call me when you're up. :)" I smile at his text and rub the back of my neck with my hand. I couldn't stand the distance between me and him but I only had a 1 day left here in Georgia so I wasn’t going to complain. I slide off the mattress trying to make less sound as possible not trying to wake Naomi up and walk to the living room. I sit down on the couch and call Tony.
