Chapter 27:

Callie decided to go check out the first spot she could think of. She had a feeling that Logan would have wanted to go to the area where that girl had died to mourn over her.

She didn't understand what he had seen in her. Callie felt that she was much prettier and more fun to be around, so why choose someone of less interest?

Shaking her head, she stepped forward into the clearing and inched towards the water. The last time she had seen that water it was bubbling and steaming. It was an image that haunted her dreams, because even though she loathed that girl she still wouldn't have wished that treatment upon anyone.

Then there was watching Logan being dragged away. Rocco had said that it would straighten him out and make him come to his senses, but that look on Logan's face told a different story. She knew she lost her mate that day. His eyes showed pure hatred towards everyone that had been present, which included her.

Tears began to stream down her face as thoughts clouded her mind. Logan had been perfect for her. Not only did he have the power she craved, but he was also gorgeous and funny and smart. He was the total package, and she completely screwed that up. She had thought she would for sure have him forever and she took him for granted. She pushed him right into another girl's arms and then helped destroy that, leaving their relationship in pieces in the process.

Kneeling down, her tears formed into not so quiet sobs. What was the point in even looking for him? She knew he would not want her back even if she did find him.

Logan was sitting with his back propped against the chamber wall when Zachary slowing walked up to him, "Uh, Logan?"

"Yeah?" raising his eyes to meet Zachary's gaze, Logan could tell that he was nervous.

"Your girlfriend is outside crying."

Logan swiveled his head around and immediately his sight landed on Layla who was chatting with the other girls.

"What are you talking about?" he asked.

Zachary shifted his weight back and forth and mumbled, "I wasn't talking about Layla. It's the red head. She's outside in the clearing. She's crying. Do we do something?"

It finally clicked in his head that Zachary was talking about Callie, but that still couldn't be right. What would she be doing at the clearing? And she wouldn't possibly be crying...he had never seen Callie cry, not even once.

Getting to his feet, Logan began walking toward the entrance to the cave without giving Zachary another word. He had to see for himself if it was true or not.

Layla was talking to Gabriella when out of the corner of her eye she saw Logan storming away. She stopped what she was saying and watched him, furrowing up her eyebrows in confusion.

"What is he doing?" she asked out loud to nobody in general.

Gabriella glanced over to see who Layla was referring to, but then turned back shrugging her shoulders in response.

"He's going to check on his girlfriend," Zachary said in a matter-of-fact tone.

Layla jumped and swirled around. She hadn't even noticed that he had walked up next to them.

She was about to give him a snarky remark for eavesdropping and sneaking up on her like that, but then she saw his eyes drift back towards the chamber entrance. As she turned to look in the same direction, she saw Logan walking back inside with Callie nestled under his arm walking along with him.

She didn't know why, but that sight began to make jealousy burn deep within her and she muttered, "You have got to be freakin' kidding me."

A/N: Sorry if this chapter is short. This is my first time writing it on my phone app, so I can't really tell how long it is compared to the other chapters. My internet is down right now so can't upload from my computer at the moment.

If I get a chance of wifi or extra time, you might get another chapter this weekend. Otherwise it probably won't be until next weekend. My weekdays are hectic with work and all that, so sorry if that's too long of a wait time for some of you, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like a chapter thrown together after how drained I am when I don't get home from work until about 10:30 or so at night
