(5) We Need To Talk

Two months later it was after the regionals game that their school won. Bucky was flirting with a girl named Mckenna in the kitchen. Sydney came to the party hoping she could talk to Bucky it was the first time she had come to a party in a weeks. 

"Hey Buck." Sydney said 

"Oh hey Sydney.." he said

"Can we talk please?' she siad 

"I'm kinda busy right now can we talk later" he said as he was walking off with Mckenna.

Tears filled her green eyes and said "Sure um I"m gonna go home then since you are busy." as she walked away. 

Megan stopped her "Hey what's wrong? You are one of the few that doesn't get attached." 

"I just need to go. I really needed to talk to him but he's turned into Taylor." Sydney said as she walked out.

Megan chased after her "Hey hey  look at me Syd what's wrong maybe I can help." 

"I'm late Megan and he's the last person I slept with I don't really remember if we used protection that first night we slept together I know we did the few nights after that before he didn't need me anymore." she said 

"Okay breathe let's just get you a test then we will figure out how to tell him okay. A party isn't the place to tell him he's boozed up and high on pain pills and weed he's not in the right frame of mind right now." she said 

The next morning Megan took Sydney to get a test. And it came back positive she started to cry as Megan held her. The following Monday Bucky looked for Sydney when he got to school so he could apologize for blowing her off. After second period was over she came down his hallway.

"Hey Bucky." she said in a low tone. 

"Oh hey Syd I was trying to find you this morning cause I wanted to say that I was sorry for blowing you off I tried to look for you afterwards but Megan said you left pretty upset which clearly you still are if you are crying." he said 

"We need to talk can we talk somewhere privately please." she said 

"Yeah sure." he said as he got his books. They found a empty classroom he leaned against one of the desks and she said "I want to preface that I'm not like the girls that you have been with in the last two months James. I don't sleep around so when I tell you this don't think I'm trying to pin the blame on you." 

"I know you don't sleep around Sydney I haven't seen you at a party since that night." he said 

"James I don't really remember much of that party after we upstairs." she said

"Well neither do I but I know it had to be amazing." he said 

She looked down and said "James I'm pregnant." 

"excuse me.." he said 

"I'm pregnant that's why I needed to talk to you the other night. I went here this morning I"m 8 and half weeks along um I'm due in May that's where I was this morning" she said as she hands him the pee stick and the ultrasound. "Syd I'm a 15 year old freshmen how the fuck did you let this happen you could of stopped me at any time to say we needed a condom. Are you not on birth control or something." he said 

"I am I got the depo shot that day I wasn't in the right frame of mind that night. I had a shitty day and night I just wanted to get drunk and have sex. I had two joints and ectasy and a shit ton of tequila." she said
