NEW CHAPTER!!! :D :D
The trip back to the Barracks was a blur, I don't remember much of it, only that we made it back. I had many people try to talk to me, i don't remember who, or what they were trying to say to me. I just sat there, dead to the world.
Then the ground shook. The walls shook, some even fell over, weakened by the battle the night before. I looked up, the alien ship was right above us now, and I could hear Sergeant Blackburn's voice over the rumble.
"Everyone! we have to move! That ship is about to blast this place sky high and you don't want to be here then it does! Now move!"
Reluctantly i began the move. Laura was just about pulling me most of the way, Mum had to carry Penny, though at least she hadn't stopped sobbing since the the barn-house but she was at least quiet about it, i think the last thing anyone here needed was a wailing kid, no matter why the kid was crying.
We were about kilometre from the Barracks now and i'd finally started walking by myself, along side Laura. We'd made it about another 500 metres when there was a flash of purple light behind us, we all turned to see what it was. Up at the ship, near the centre, a ball of what looked like some kind of energy was accumulating. Then just as the ball reached about 100 metres in diameter it exploded. a beam was sent down from it and directly hit the Barracks and blew the place up in a matter of seconds.
The shock-waves sent everyone to the ground. I hit the ground hard hit a rock and blacked out. I opened my eyes to find Laura looking over me, i tried to sit up until my head exploded in pain.
"Oh don't move, you hit your head quite hard. Just lay down for a minute." Said Laura, trying to be as reassuring as possible.
I could feel a hot liquid moving down my face and realised i must be bleeding.
"I've stopped the bleeding as much as a can but the rag's filled up now. I'll have to get a new one soon." explained Laura, seeing that i'd realised i was bleeding
"How long have I been out for?" I asked.
"About 20 minutes, I'm sorry but you're going to have to move soon, Dad doesn't want us to stay here any longer. Now hold still a second."
Just as i was about to ask what she was going to do she ripped off the bottom half or her shirt, removed the old rag from around my head and wrapped the new one around my head. She then helped me to my feet, my head exploded with pain and i doubled over.
"Sorry Dean, we don't have any medicine left, but we have to get moving."
So i then tried to stand up straight again and this time only got a heavy throbbing...
We walked for what felt like hours, there were a few off us with injuries from the shockwave and others from the battle the night before, so the going was very slow. So what should have been a 6 hour walk to Glissro took almost 11.
But finally after all that fighting, walking and so much pain, we'd arrived at the stunning city that was Glissro. Was being the key word in that statement. The city, or what was left of it, was a collapsing, burning crater in the ground. This was once the largest city in all of Armagos and now it, most likely like much of Armagos, was no longer. In the sky there were a three of the ships like one that attacked the Barracks. There were several gasps and a lot of downcast heads, it wasnt the sight we were hoping for at all.
"What now!!" someone in the crowd asked
"Now, Mr. Page. We go down into that city and find out what happened. We'll make or way to the star-dock and hope its intact." Announced Blackburn.
So that was it, we made our way into the city, or what was left of it, from the cliff we could see that there was a few intact areas left so Blackburn got us to head to those first. One of these areas was the slums or the poorer district of the city, it took us another hour, dodging creature patrols and haveing to avoid crumbling buildings, and by the time we got there it was almost completely dark.
Once we were there it was almost like a ghost town, wreckage's of cars, ruined houses and a lot of bodies were littered all about the streets, we found an intact shopping centre and decided to make camp there that night, we found food supplies and medicine there and Lauren could finally attend to my head.
"Ow" I winced and she threaded the needle through the wound in my head.
"Stop being such a baby Dean." Remarked Laura
"Hey I'd like to see, ow, you sit here and get a sharp things stabbed through your head."
"Oh quit complaining, I'm almost done now anyway."
Laura pulled through the final stitching and tried it off, she then cut off the excess string.
"All done, sorry for the slightly primitive fix but its all we had to use." Explained Laura. "Now you lost a lot of blood today, luckily we found some Bio tubes around" she pulled out a needle filled with different coloured liquids. "Now this is going to hurt a little but you should feel a lot better in a few minutes."
She put the needle into my arm and pressed a button and then I experienced one of the worst pains I had experienced in my short life, it was hot and cold, painful and numbing and made me sleepy and wide awake all at the same time. The intense pain lasted about a minute and then my arm went dead and I pasted out.
"Dean? Dean? Dean, are you alright?" I opened my eyes to see Laura looking over me for the second time today, this was getting embarrassing. "Dean! Thank god, are you okay?"
"What the hell was that?" I asked
"That was a Bio tube, you haven't had one before have you? Oh Dean I'm sorry! I should have asked, the first time getting a bio tube is always horrible."
"It's okay, I feel a lot better now," I then noticed everyone rushing about. "What's happening?" I asked.
"Dean, we think we've found some survivors." Laura announced.
